Fedde Le Grand Dark Light Sessions SiriusXM Launch

December 2nd fedde le grand launches his new radio show on electric area.

damn electric area and BPM have really been pumping up their radio line up with lots of celeb dj's.  great news for us fans.

Skrillex : Grammy Noise

So last night the Grammy's announced all the nominations.  All the other music blogs on the internet exploded with the typical rant "EDM is blowing up".  Now I'd love to join the bandwagon and say the Grammy's are confirmation of that.  But they simply aren't.

If you take a look at all the EDM Nominations.  A majority come from 2 categories that have traditionally recognized dance music.  Those two being: Best Dance Recording & Best Dance Album.  Is that a win for EDM?? I think not.  If EDM was truly blowing up, how come levels or another beatport #1 isn't being nominated for song of the year?  Where's the nomination for Producer of the Year (non-classical).  Surely Afrojack, skrillex, Bennassi, geutta, tiesto, avicii, tommy trash, Axwell, Ingrosso or any of those likes should be up on the board.  But they aren't.

Nevertheless, if the mighty Skrillex is able to pull off Best New Artist, I think it is a game changer.  Not the other categories, which happened to also contain Skrillex nominations.  That my friends would be a game changer.  It would give EDM the push into the public eye on national television and create the stage for next years EDM success at the Grammys.  As Skrillex even said himself. "whats is al this grammy noise about."

The hype is great but don't fall for the bogus stuff and be let down, if EDM turns out to be a fad.  We really hope that doesn't occur!  Skrillex is a great artist to have represent the movement this decade and I think the Grammys will display a glimmer of what's to come for EDM.  With an artist (skrillex)  getting attention in a category that is often nothing more then a popularity contest, the genre is showing progression.  I sure hope Skrillex doesn't suffer the brunt of an edm let down if he doesn't win tho.  At the end of the day the grammy's don't matter.  Plenty of solid artists haven't won a grammy.

Come time next year for the grammys, I'd like to see a track nominated for best song of the year or even see a producer get some attention.  That my friends will be the true showing of EDM's power and growing movement.

On another note, congrats to all the EDM artsts nominated!

Laidback luke will be joining forces with SiriusXM channel 5 electric area to bring a weekly show on Saturdays at 7pm. The show will start December 3rd.

NERVO : Adventures in the USA

THese chicks seem like the coolest girls on the planet right now.  Not only are they hot, but they have awesome personalities, and produce some of the best EDM material.  Lethal combination.

Here's a peek at them behind the scenes and what they have to say about touring.

David Guetta - The World Is Mine (David Puentez meets The Whiteliner Bootleg)

Nice remix to a guetta song.  Pumps up the initial electro pulse and makes it more prominent.  Also Puentez adds a slightly darker feel to the track that is ment for true house raves.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike - Live @ GrooveCity Belgium

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike go so hard on this live set at Groovecity Belgium.  All kinds of remixes are featured and they bring their signature high energy with lots of Big Room massive tracks.

The focus of this short segment has a lot of brand new tracks that have hit the scene in the last four months.  However, i'm more impressed with the mixing. It's impeccable and on point.  Not to mention the momentum is carried throw out the set.

Steve Aoki comes to Boston: EDM Boston Events

You read that right.  Steve Aoki will be descending on Boston Thursday February 16.  He will have his friend Datsik in tote.  Datsik is a top tier dubstep producer and dj.  It should make for a great show.

Steve Aoki shows generate so much raw energy and Aoki really gives the fans a great experience.  He is a true rockstar not a DJ.  When Aoki performed at royale, last year, it was nothing less then amazing.  Aoki did his traditional inflatable raft crowd surf and was popping bottles of champagne all night.  Looking forward to this one.

Tickets go on sale on ticketmaster dec 3rd.
