EDC New York: A State of Trance Set Times

A STATE OF TRANCE LANDS IN THE BIG APPLE: ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL TAKE-OVER

(a state of trance.com) This weekend, the grounds of New York city will be shaken by the Electric Daisy Carnival. Gathering 100,000 visitors a day, the three-day festival is one of the season’s highlights in the USA. Now that the American clubbers have completely embraced EDM, one of the leading lights in that new movement steps up: A State of Trance. On Saturday May 19th, A State of Trance will invade the first ever EDC in New York city!

The ASOT 550 world tour, which touched down in Miami and Los Angeles in March, was live broadcast and marked a highlight in the history of the American EDM scene. In sequence to these shows, A State of Trance lands its very own stage at the Electric Daisy Carnival Festival. Not just the visitors of the festival will enjoy the star-studded line-up, but the entire world will be part of it, all through the live broadcast on www.astateoftrance.com

With DJ’s ATB, Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, John O’Callaghan, Jochen Miller, Tritonal, Rank 1 and Sied van Riel behind the decks, the A State of Trance area will be a real Mecca for trance lovers. Including world-class performances, special effects, theatrical displays, interactive art installations,  and much, much more, it will be a party to remember.

During the live broadcast, the ASOT live team will be chatting with the listeners via the @ASOTlive Twitter account and through Armin van Buuren’s Facebook page. All listeners are invited to send their tweets, questions, pictures and all else, to the social media channels of the A State of Trance team.

Paris Hilton DJ Tour Announced...FML

(mixmag) "Paris Hilton, a.k.a. the Party Princess, has announced that she is making her official DJ debut and embarking on a full-fledged career in the field.
After months of speculation, following the announcement of a 'house' album, Hilton’s reps confirmed with Mixmag today that she is in fact getting behind the decks for a one-hour set at the Pop Music Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil on June 23 and has more gigs on the way.

World Record for Longest DJ Set broken in Brisbane

How long do you think you could stand behind the decks and mix music?  The normal DJ gig lasts around 4 hours and an extended days worth of work clocks in at 8 hours.  However, it isn't unusual, for DJ's to attempt massive sets of 8 hours or more.  Ferry Corsten recently played for 8 hours to celebrate the 250th episode of Corsten's countdown.

However if you want to set the record for longest dj set you are going to have to play a hell of a lot longer then 8 hours.  After 152 sleepless hours, DJ Hertz of Brisbane Australia, has broken the record for the longest dj set in history by two hours.

So you ask how does DJ Hertz feel after the matter?

“By the time I broke it…I dunno how to explain it, because it was more about getting through it than anything”...“It was definitely a good moment, but yeah I wasn’t myself at the time."

"[EDM] Created a Dismal Landscape for Music" Says Santigold

With EDM on the forefront of the music industry, it has garnered all kinds of attention and been blessed with the proverbial bullseye on its back.  From mainstream media to celebrities, people can no longer help but to voice their opinion on the genre to stay in the limelight.  For example, take a listen to what Santigold had to say about about our beloved EDM:
New York (AP) — "You may love dance and electronic music, but Santigold hates it.
The singer-rapper, who has collaborated with Jay-Z, the Beastie Boys and Mark Ronson, says she wishes the sound wasn’t so popular.
“I really don’t like that music, that sort of Euro-dance music, Ibiza-style. I’ve never liked it, even when it was kind of new and underground,” she said.
The electronic and dance genre has taken over U.S. radio in the last few years, with acts from Rihanna to Britney Spears to Usher to Katy Perry adopting the sound, and churning out No. 1 hits.
Santigold says today’s pop hits are formulaic, where artists “hire one of three producers, one of a couple songwriters, and you pretty much get the exact same song every time.”
