Is America Killing Dance Music?
This article was too good not to pass on. It discuss many things that EDMBoston has touched on over the past few months and really puts a lense on whats happening. The movement is happening so FAST in the US that things have taken a different path then anyone could have expected!
(inthemix) "It’s been a turbulent couple of weeks for DJs in the US. Last Monday, plenty of feathers were ruffled when house hero Mark Farina alleged he’d been kicked off the decks by a “table service crowd”. Then just a few days later, Calvin Harris declared that he’d got the boot for declining to spin hip-hop and, uh, tween sensation Carly Rae Jepsen. Of course, those are just two – perhaps isolated – incidents. But considering them in the grander scheme of the EDM explosion in the States over the past few months, you’ve got to wonder: what is America doing to dance music?
The USA might very well be buying into dance music big time – quite literally if you look at last week’s announcement that Robert Sillerman is re-entering the live music market with a whopping $US1 billion to spend on ‘EDM’ focused acquisitions.

"I’m on a two-hour trek to travel a mere 12 miles. I need to pee very badly. And there’s a DJ snoring in my lap.
I’m traveling to EDC Las Vegas with Markus Schulz, who is tuckered out after gigs the past few days that have included Houston, Berlin, Poland, Ibiza and Romania, where he shot a video for his upcoming single, “Caught,” with Adina Butar.
Our SUV includes team members from Armada management, and we’re tuned into “Electric Area” on Sirius, which is broadcasting live from EDC. When Markus' name gets mentioned during the rundown of the lineup still to come tonight, everyone pokes a little fun, repeating his name like crazed fans, “Markus Schulz!”
