Minnesota Interview & Download | Mic'd Up
Recently, we caught up with Minnesota at the Middle East and got to ask him a few questions about his tour and his newest music. Below is our interview, as well as a download for his new remix of Adventure Club.
Minnesota! Welcome to Boston! How are you doing today? I know you're on your shadow boxing tour, can you tell us a bit about that, and how that name came about?
Yeah, I've been touring with Zion I and the name is going off of their album. I'm not really sure where they got their name. We were trying to work together to come with a cool name for the tour, and I didnt really have an idea so we called it. It sounds cool and it works!
With the SnowGlobe festival around the corner, how do you approach playing festivals with a more mellow atmosphere, rather than at more mainstream events?
I feel like most of the festivals I play have a...

Zedd Interviewed for Huffington Post by Tommie Sunshine
12/03/2012 03:00:00 PM
interview, tommie sunshine, zedd
Tommie Sunshine isn't a man of few words and to those that follow his social media you know all to well. So who better then he to dig into Zedd and get him to open up about things? Well he did just that for HuffingtonPost
(Huffington Post) Note: HuffPost Entertainment linked up Zedd, one of electronic dance music's hottest young producers, with Tommie Sunshine. Sunshine, a decades-long mainstay in the worlds of DJ'ing and producing, interviewed Zedd about working with Lady Gaga, producing his first studio album, "Clarity" and what it's like to be an in-demand producer at the age of 23. We've included Sunshine's introduction and the entire, unedited Q&A, below.
When I played at Pacha here in NYC on New Year's Day 2011, there was a track that seemed to rock the room just a bit harder than all the others. It was a remix of just barely breaking Skrillex by a relatively unknown producer at the time named Zedd. I reached out to him on Soundcloud and we have been in touch ever since. That first set of exchanges made me realize just how different of an artist Zedd was when his reply to the producer/DJ standard, "send me a .zip of your tunes" was "what songs do u like to have? I usually don't do this, in respect of the labels." No one had ever said that to me before and I had so much respect for him instantly.
I knew at that moment...

Prydz Says "It's about just pressing play" read the full story here
8/07/2012 11:00:00 AM
eric prydz, interview, pressing play
The following article was posted in MTV were Eric Prydz make a splashy interview weighing in on "pressing play". Pryda has an interesting take on the measure but EDMBoston can say with certitude that not all DJs even the talented ones possess as much skill as he in the both. As a result, him pressing play is a lot different then others
By Akshay Bhansali
(MTV.com) It's one of the hottest topics in the electronic dance music world. As a result of EDM's recent surge in popularity, what exactly it means to DJ has become a much-debated topic.
With deadmau5 confessing that DJs just "press play," A-trak encouraging DJs to challenge themselves and our colleagueJacob at Dancing Astronauts issuing a heartfelt DJ "Call-Out," we recently had a very frank conversation with an electronic music legend, who broke down his thoughts on the art of DJ'ing.
Our good friends at Surrender Nightclub in Las Vegas helped MTV News catch up with Eric Prydz, who just launched into the states in support of is new collection, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda. Here's what the legend had to say!
"I think you need to look at what is 'a DJ set' and what is a 'live show,'" Prydz told MTV News. "If you do a live show, everything needs to be...

Zeds Dead interview
(National Post) Electronic dance music is becoming something Canadians do exceedingly well. Zeds Dead is no exception. The group is comprised of Hooks and DC, two Toronto producers who started working under the moniker Zeds Dead (yes, a nod to Pulp Fiction) in 2009. The duo will bring their act to Yonge-Dundas Square on Saturday, July 28, headlining the Mad Decent Block Party. We talked hometown shows and the taxonomy of dubstep with Hooks this week.
Q: What does it mean to you to be able to bring a Mad Decent Block Party to Toronto?A: I feel like Dave Chappelle. No, but it’s amazing that we’re doing a show in Yonge and Dundas Square. We’re going to be blasting all sorts of unknowing onlookers with the bass!

GHOSTS OF VENICE INTERVIEW: by DIGBoston
7/13/2012 11:00:00 AM
dig boston, ghosts of venice, interview
Article from Dig Boston
The debate of nature vs. nurture seems like an unsolvable intellectual debacle, but if any musician could whole-heartedly embody both sides of the argument, it’s gotta be UK-based producer Lee Dunn. You might know him as Ghosts of Venice.
INTERVIEW: GHOSTS OF VENICE
Dunn grew up surrounded by house and disco, nurtured by four-on-the-floor rhythms and dance music. His stripped-down style leans heavily toward disco, a sound he created while working on the Chicago House label he started with Garrett Shrigley, Second City Recordings.
Remixing the likes of Grum, James Talk, and Ridney and releasing tracks on labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Defected, and Guest House are all huge feats for a producer in his early 20s, kind of like how huge Sweet Shop and CreateSpace’s booking of such a forward-thinking artist for this Saturday night at Good Life is. Not to mention Ghosts of Venice seemed pretty keen on making an appearance at Dancing on the Block beforehand. Here’s what Dunn had to say on iChat to CoWaBunga182 (my unfortunate screenname from sixth grade).
Hi Lee, we’re very excited to have you in

Avicii Says he hasn't sold out in interview here:
In the interview, Avicii says he hasn't sold out. Take a listen and see what he has to say.
He definitely has stuck to producing the same sound but EDMBostons asks why?? Armin van Buuren always says "don't be a prisoner of your own style" and we can't help but think Avicii is the definitive artist thats stuck. At this point it will be very challenging from him to switch out of his pop progressive sound and have a long term career. Ash has set him up to follow the same trajectory of the hip-hop stars of yesteryear and its pretty sad.
Avicii is a talented producer and you have to give him credit for levels no matter how sick of it (and we're sick of it) you are. But where is he going with it all besides commercial success?
