Afrojack Breaks Silence on Paris Hilton DJing

Most of you have seen or read about Paris Hilton's newest ambition being a DJ.  Over the weekend DJ Paris Hilton's Debut  as a DJ at the Pop Musical Festival in Brazil.  It didn't go so hot.  Okay it was a complete fail that saw her make almost every amateur dj mistake all within one set.

Surrounding the fiasco is her ex-boyfriend Afrojack.  Reason being was Nick (aka Afrojack) produced her original tracks and even had her touring with him.  Making it evident he was mentoring her closely. As a result he has come under fire from his fans and edm fans in general.  They proclaimed him a trader and a sell out.  It certainly was an interesting move for afrojack to combine business with pleasure, but it happened.

Afrojack has broken his silence surrounding the issue and released the statement to Dancing Astronaut.

On June 23 – enjoying the afterburn of a Rolling Stone cover story in which he called out everyone from Skrillex to David Guetta for dialing in their sets – Deadmau5 used a Tumblr post to piss on the importance of technical DJ-ing skills, saying that with the advent of Ableton and its automatic beat-matching capabilities, “we all hit play.” An editorial on super-blog Dancing Astronaut declared that “EDM” had officially “mainstreamed,” and decried the lack of new music in most superstar DJ’s sets: “What worries me is not that DJs are simply ‘pressing play,’ but that they’re pressing play on the same tracks in the same order night after night after night,” said writer Jacob Schulman. Meanwhile, Paris Hilton played her first official DJ gig– and apparently wasn’t even able to press play (a tech came onstage to do it).

Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal (of all places!) even chimed in, bemoaning the “dumbing down of electronic music,” and labeling crossover artists like David Guetta and Calvin Harris “cliché-riddled, white-bread house that don’t represent the best of the genre.” Then there’s the much-talked-about feud between veteran DJ Sneak and Swedish House Mafia (sample: “I do not respect DJ actors”); and icons like Mark Farina and Dennis Ferrer being asked to vacate superclub DJ booths for not playing recognizable music.

Paris Hilton DJ Tour Announced...FML

(mixmag) "Paris Hilton, a.k.a. the Party Princess, has announced that she is making her official DJ debut and embarking on a full-fledged career in the field.

After months of speculation, following the announcement of a 'house' album, Hilton’s reps confirmed with Mixmag today that she is in fact getting behind the decks for a one-hour set at the Pop Music Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil on June 23 and has more gigs on the way.

Paris Hilton feat. Afrojack - Good Time [preview]

Well this didn't take long to be previewed in show...most likely cuz afrojack already had a beat ready to go for paris.  It songs very Guetta-ish until you get to the breakdown.  Thats when Afrojacks electro production talent kicks in.  But man these lyrics are terrible!  Really takes away from the amazing talents like Shawnee Taylor, Nadia Ali, or Skylar Grey.  But as Afrojack says on the mic during his set "i dont give a fuck, i'm having a good time"  And that my friends is called enjoying the free upgrade at Hilton hotels internationally lol.

PARIS HILTON TO RELEASE HOUSE ALBUM

(mixmag) "First, there's reports that Paris is trying to learn how to DJ. Then, last week we told you Paris Hilton had spent New Year's Eve hanging off the arm of dance music giant, Afrojack. Now it looks like the hotel heiress is bedding down in the scene.

Recent reports suggest Hilton is in the process of making a house music album.

Speaking to FHM, the Simple Life star said, "I have a huge passion for house music. It always has been my passion. I just haven't been able to focus on it, because I have been doing reality TV for so long now".

Paris went on to claim that she had been working with lots of top DJ's on the album and that it would be "perfect party music".

It's not the first time Paris has delved into the world of music. In 2006 she released an album 'Paris' which was preceded by a single, 'Stars are Blind' which went top ten in 17 countries.

The song was a simple reggae ditty, channeling the spirit of UB40, if UB40 had been fronted by an internet sex tape sensation rather than a chubby faced brummie.

Paris added that she had been to 100 raves in the past year, heard every type of music and hung out with a lot of top DJs. Lets hope one of them taught her to edit the vocal out of this."
