Avicii Interview, Talks Paris Hilton/New Music

(Billboard) With the rise of electronic dance music, it seems like everyone is a DJ these days. While music fans may be into it, the mainstream DJ community hasn't exactly embraced newcomers like Paris Hilton trying their hand behind turntables, as seen by the anti-DJ Paris tweets sent by the likes of Deadmau5 following her Brazilian Pop Music Festival debut.

In a recent interview, Avicii sugar coated things a bit more, admitting to Billboard that while he thinks everyone interested should give DJing a try, being a respected DJ really comes down to "how much time you spend on producing and DJing."

Steve Angello - Yeah || Pete Tong debut

When a track gets played out on Pete Tong's radio show on friday nights it means one of two things, its a massive track or it's making its official premier/release.  Steve Angello is the latest to release a track on Tong's show and in doing so he set his original "Yeah" into the wild.

The big room tune features purging dramatic synths that roll in a progression of intense building tension.  Angello is already using it in his sets and even played it out when he hit Ocean Club in August.

Benny Benassi’s Live Performance At The Indianapolis 500

Did anyone know that Benny Bennassi was throwing down center ring at the Indianapolis 500?  Turns out he setup a mini stage called the snake pit and threw down a set for fans on May 27th.  The Turn 3 infield section served as a unique glimpse of the italian clad in white race suite donning his name and native country colors.  Fortunately  UltraTV video was there to capture some footage for us, okay maybe not us specifically.

Axwell's Song Featured in Kia Commercial

We don't even know where to start with this terrible commercial Kia has put together.  In an attempt to breathe new air into their rodent icons, who's image has faded just as hip hop, the Corporation injects progressive house as their new anthem of choice.  Axwell's "In My Mind" is the song choice that plays out both vocally by the opera singer and when the beat drops.  In a deranged way, the rodents set their familiar beatboy dance moves on stage to Axwell's tune all while not making to much sense.  THe most logical point in the video, that seems to corrolate with anything happening in the EDM scene is when, a steve aoki-ized rodent decides to crowd surf from the upper deck.

What really bothers us is Kia's nonchalant slogan at the end of the commercial "A New Way of Rolling".  Because EDM doesn't have a hard enough time escaping the drug ridden stereotypes, we don't need a dumb corporation buying their way into the scene and promoting the connotation.
