Danny Tenaglia Resigns from DJing

Danny Tenaglia is 51 years old and has been in the game a long time! It appears he has been looking to move on from DJing for some time now and it has finally worn on him. It's unfortunately to here but we wish him much luck in his next journey!

Facebook message:

"Dear Friends, please, just LET me BE, LET me BE! >> The Time Has Come for ME to "finally" BE MYSELF!! :) I have been telling people for so many years now to JUST BE YOURSELF!! But for me, being myself was living with 1 foot in a closet and 1 outside "trying" to BE the happiest DJ on Earth, which I have been, and give the World the best I had to Give because I know how happy I have made people with the gift of music from GOD and this has been a great blessing .... so I simply Could Not Stop!! Since everything has CHANGED since I first realized I wanted to BE a DJ forever like playing records" and getting a job in nightclubs back in the early 70's (gag) and now here I am at 51, been around the world many times, put over One Million Miles in the sky, 3 full Passports and my Heart has been YEARNING for something New & Different besides music. BUT, as I have been trying to STOP and make BIG changes like finally calling my home in Miami since 2006 HOME, but was always to busy between NY residencies and travels and it's been getting the best of me lately. Airplanes, Airports, Hotels, Foreign-isms, and what can I say: I HAVE SEEN THE MOUNTAINTOP as a DJ and I just need to STOP and smell the roses of my life and simply try to "Grow Up and BE who I really am" but "everything" - including the need for finances to afford my Loft of 10 years in NY which I can no longer afford and must let go of by July . . . I know many people think I am wealthy but I assure I am not! I have lived well and have very nice things to show for my earnings, but I cannot stop working!! When I say I have been writing for the past 5 days, it has been DEEP!! I kept starting over and over and it's turned into a major journal and sooooo much of this I promise I want to share with ALL of you, The Good and The Bad, but thankfully it's mostly good! ON my way home on Wed from DR & Montreal I was having a bad day as I had a head cold, and there's no enjoyment in an airplane or in a hotel room out of the country with a headcold .... anyhow, I was traveling back to Miami alone as my co-workers flew back to NY and I was just looking out the window the whole flight and for 3 hours I was just thinking HOW AM I EVER GOING TO PROPERLY RESIGN (not retire) . . . And when I got home I realized I left a small carry on murse bag with many personal things, keys, passport and so on and at first all I could feel was FURY!! I tried everything between Lost & Found and the car service, but as my ID was in there and now 6 days later no return, well all I can say is that THIS has been The Revelation that I needed to say: LADIES & GENTLEMEN: As of this day, I am "resigning" (not retiring) and all future gigs will sadly BE canceled except for My Belated Birthday @ Pacha on Sat April 28th! This will BE my final gig until I feel I am ready to return back to the decks. This is thee hardest decision I have ever had to make in my career, but if not now, then when?? I apologize to all parties involved but I think most people that know me personally know that this has been coming! I have performed at WMC 26 years in a row! I have played every year in Ibiza since 2000! It's time for ME to Stop and settle down, move out from the loft which will BE a very MAJOR ordeal . . . OMG!! I have soooooooooo much STUFF!!! There is no way I can do all this and travel and have a life . . . Only I can make the decisions of what stays and what goes, including what I will do with over 10,000 records, etc etc etc ....... SO in closing: I LOVE YOU ALL and I just wanna Thank U 4 Lettin me BE MYSELF all these years, and now I beg you to please continue with me in my journey and my quest for something new and wonderful. I will never give up my first love with MUSIC, but there has to BE something else (or someone) out there waiting for me! :) >> I promise to keep updating here, but I needed to do this today - in order to BE FREE & BE ME!! Please BE kind, this has not been easy and I am a very sensitive person. God BE with US all! See you soon!! :)"

AN21 REVIEW BIJOU BOSTON - PART 1

Last Tuesday was EDMBoston and Bijou’s first collaboration of Guest House Tuesday’s.  That meant the EDMBoston team was officially on hand to bring together the EDM Boston Community to party at a Concert.  It was a special night and we want to give a big shout out to everyone that came to the AN21 concert and said hello!  It was an incredible experience hearing all the people that follow the blog and love what we do.  While the blog seems fun, it takes an extraordinary amount of work. Hearing feedback is what keeps us driving to improve the website. But I digress from the festivities of the night.

The performer last Tuesday was famed Swede, AN21.  The mastermind behind the hit tracks “The Island” and “Swedish Beauty”.

From the second AN21 walked in the green room, to the moment he played his last track, AN21 was meticulous about everything he did.  His mix reflected this precision, no track was out of place in his set, much like every hair in his tight European cut.

When we sat down with him, he was ultra secretive of his new album, but fun loving to sway anyones ability to pull out what he had hiding under his sleeve.  All we can say is after "People of the Night" was played live we should be in for a lot of good new things!

Last Tuesday at Bijou AN21 was able to build energy in the room, release it, and go deep with power vocals and melodic synths at ease.  He orchestrated his set like a finely tuned orchestra.  Only his orchestra was his cdjs and a raucous crowd looking to set aside their daily humdrum.  While we’d like to say AN21 was perfect that night, he had trouble with his audio levels the first 3 tracks of his set.  However, his tour manager worked with him to quickly resolve the problem.  From there, it was no looking back.  AN21 looped, cut, pitch faded, and mashed up live vocal cuts all throughout the night to keep the crowd energy up and everyone entertained.

He opened his set with...Stay Tuned tomorrow for Part 2 of the Review!

Scissor Sisters - Only The Horses (Calvin Harris Extended Mix) || POP House

Calvin Harris massive pop breakthrough with Rhinna has shifted the artists careers in ways that we're sure he never even knew existed.  The Scottish exports new remix project sees him partnering u with the Scissor Sisters with their new track 'Only the Horses".  It most certainly is a pop track and we're not even sure that can be considered pop house.  Either way people looking for a summer radio tune will appreciate this.  For the intense EDM fans you're not gonna like this...at all.

Released May 13th

Coachella Catches Media's Attention Were Ultra Doesn't ~Kaskade

By Steve Baltin

(rollingstone.com)  "Ever since Coachella's inaugural year in 1999, when the Chemical Brothers and Underworld, among others performed, dance music has always been a major part of the festival. Tiësto and the Chemical Brothers both headlined the main stage long before the current EDM boom, and the lineup at the fest's popular Sahara Tent has always been stacked with big-name DJs and producers. This year, Sahara's Friday night lineup featured Afrojack, Datsik and Alesso, who were all greeted by an exuberant capacity crowd. Paul Oakenfold, who was on hand to support 17-year-old French wunderkind Madeon in his impressive Coachella debut, told Rolling Stone after the set that the scene at the tent felt very much like it did when he opened for Madonna there back in 2006.

But while Coachella's embrace of dance music hasn't changed, the genre's surge in popularity was readily apparent at the festival this year. French duo Justice received a deservedly lavish reception on the main stage on Sunday night, and Kaskade's closing set on Saturday at Sahara lured a significant throng of music fans away from Radiohead's main stage performance. The extent to which dance music has infiltrated mainstream pop was driven home, too, when Rihanna joined Scottish DJ-producer Calvin Harris for his Sunday night set (Harris produced a couple of key tracks on the singer's most recent album). Emerging unannounced in cut-off shorts and a T-shirt that read, "Peace," the singer sent the tent into a frenzy.

In response to their growing spotlight, EDM stars clearly turned up the production value for their sets this year, whether it was Avicii spinning tunes from inside an enormous head, Dada Life's giant champagne bottles or Swedish House Mafia and Kaskade's new, dazzling light shows. "It's such a good place to debut a show because there's other press there. At (festivals) that are so dance-centric, a lot of the mainstream press just doesn't pay attention. Daft Punk knew that would be the case," Kaskade told Rolling Stone, referring to the duo's landmark set in 2006. "They said, 'Let's bring out the pyramid – let's show what we got.' They knew it would cause waves here, whereas if they did it in Miami at Bayshore Theater, I'm not sure people would have paid as much attention."

Another reason to pull out all the production stops: since Coachella is as known for breaking emerging artists as it is for its headliners, it offers DJs a chance to convert festivalgoers into EDM fans. "A lot of people that aren't necessarily into nightclubs might like the music and can enjoy it better here," says Kaskade. "It attracts different people, and that's why it has so much credibility. It's all about the music at this festival."

And that remained the case this year. For all of Dada Life's onstage spectacle, it was their killer set that had the tent going crazy. Over at the Gobi tent, Gaslamp Killer's quirky beats and incorporation of classic tunes like the Beatles' "I Am the Walrus" – which seemed downright retro in comparison with the huge choruses being pumped into the Sahara tent – enthralled the crowd without any production bells and whistles. The music is paramount at Coachella, and from Dada Life and Porter Robinson to Alesso and Feed Me, there were plenty of emerging dance acts whose music stood tall."

Avicii New Stage Setup Revealed

Interesting move by At Night Management, Ash(Avicii's manager), and the rest of the Avicii camp.  Coachella has traditionally been a place where new stage setups have been revealed. Both daft punk and Deadmau5 revealed the pyramid and cube respectively.

And now Avicii New stage setup has been revealed at coachella.  It features a massive face, which Avicii stands atop.  There are tracking lasers that light it up as well.
