EDC Las Vegas says Goodbye to Superstar DJ's

We're not really surprised if EDC decides to pull the plug on Superstar DJ's.  Yes its great to see them at festivals because they always drop new unreleased material.  However, when you watch the likes of Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, or Avicii you are observing minimal live mixing.  These artists, who are extremely talented and capable of live mater mixing, rarely utilize three cdjs at once, never mind the 4th that is present.  Guys like Roger Sanchez and carl Cox are worth paying for because they layer and build beats utilizing the equipment in front of them, instead of fist pumping around to be a showman.

If EDC brought in some unknowns that were flawless live mixers things could get extremely interesting. We aren't talking about your local club dj.  We're talking the equivalent of DMC champ DJ's, only EDM guys/girls, or people that will put on a live performance unlike something you could see locally.  THink of how amazing it be to hear live mash-ups.

The Dates of the EDC NYC Show will be May 19th and 20th.  The shows will be 18+

Stay Tuned EDMBoston is going to work hard to try and make this our first Bus trip to kick off a crazy EDM Summer.

Insomniac Events just put EDMBoston to shame.  Earlier in the week we questioned the possibility of this festival happening on short notice.  We sited artist acquisition problems, logistical problems, and if insomniac had the resources to pull of something this massive on such short notice.

Welp it looks like while EDMBoston was busy doing our thing, so were Insomniac events.  Only Insomniac Events were busy planning a mega Fucking Festival called EDC NYC in the Northeast.

We truly can’t wait for EDC NYC.  All the rides, fancy lights, mega Video Displays, fireworks, and massive lineups all make EDC Events.  However EDC NYC will be extra special because it is the culmination of the transition of the northeast moving from a hip-hop based culture to an EDM nation.  For a long time hip-hop has dominated the airwaves while dance music was nothing but a mention from that weird guy that no one listened to.  Now we are no longer the bastard child of the music industry.  EDC NYC is taking over the Meadowlands and people have no choice by to notice EDM and EDC NYC.

Pacha U18 Festival stems from EDC NYC Rumors || EDMBoston News

The EDM Northeast community is hearing a mixed bag of rumors about different festivals to take place in the NYC area, specifically at Metlife Stadium.  Yesterday night we reported that a source said insomniac events had an EDC NYC event in the works for May 19 & 20th.  Now that is in doubts.  

Which as we said last night, seemed very suspicious.  A company like Insomniac events doesn't just throw a festival over night.  They carefully craft their productions and start with announcements months out.  Failing to take the necessary time would prevent an EDC NYC event from bringing top talent to the arena.  Most artists at this late point in winter have already crafted a large part of their summer touring schedule.  You know most artists have reserved that schedule for a lot of ibiza appearances and things like tomorrowlands, edc-vegas, nocturnal, creamfields, Electric Zoo, etc.  That only leaves so much time left for them to play other festivals such as EDC NYC type of event and gigs around the world.

This morning, the rumor story quickly changed, accompanied with Flyers swirling around the internet of Pacha announcing a U18 Festival at Metlife Stadium.  The Pacha U18 Festival is rumored to be for those that are 18 and under only.  Not sure how they will pull that age discrimination off but we shall see.

Again this is all speculation but we wanted to keep the EDMBoston community on notice with whats going on out there with Pacha U18 Festival and EDC NYC rumors

There is still no official word on what madness will be taking place this summer in New York City.  But for one thing, EDMBoston will bring you the breaking news as soon as we hear it!

Rumors are swirling around the EDM community that Insomniac events may have something big for us this coming Spring.  Those rumors, are about Insomniac creating an Electric Daisy Carnival NYC (EDC NYC) event in the northeast.  Dancing Astronaut is reporting that Metlife stadium is the front runner for the venue for EDC NYC but Citi field may also take the role.  Despite the anonymity of the venue choice for EDC NYC, May 19-20 looks to be the weekend primed for the event according to sources.  If Insomniac were to take over Metlife Stadium for EDC NYC New York, they would be looking at throwing an event larger then that of the summer classic, Electric Zoo.

This leaves the EDMBoston crew guessing.  How will Insomniac throw down an epic Electric Daisy Carnival NYC New York event on such short notice?  They are literally looking at 4 months to make this EDC NYC production happen.  That being said, if anyone could make it happen, its the Insomniac events team.  Lets keep our fingers crossed for another massive festival in the north east.  Who knows maybe Mayor Menino pulls a wild card and brings it to Boston?!?
