April Fools

I have to say today was an exceptionally fun day on the blog. My team and i came together at this weeks staff meeting to develop some fantastic ideas for today. Its great to see they went over extremely well. If you didn't realize it, every article we wrote, except the Modestep piece was fictitious. Happy april fools day!

We're happy we have so many readers that interact with the site. we welcome the new people that joined today and would like to share some exciting news.

We are working on a new layout for the website. Unfortunately its not cheap to make such improvements and requires more capital then we have. In the next weeks we will be launching a fundraiser to help rebuild the site. The goals of the project are to develop a better layout of the calendar and make the overall website more user friendly. Anything that you can give to help the effort would be greatly appreciated! Stay tuned on how to support the cause.

Peace. Love. Unity. Rave,

Max and the EDMBoston team!

Swedish House Mafia, Daft Punk Rumored To Come Back And Play One More Time

By Justin:

Swedish House Mafia Daft Punk
Swedish House Mafia’s management team has announced that their performance at Ultra Music Festival will not be there last. After watching the groups supposed final set in Miami, the legendary French duo Daft Punk reached out to SHM backstage, in hopes of conjuring up the most explosive live show ever assembled. With Daft Punk’s new album due out at the end of May, they couldn’t think of a better way to usher themselves back into the spotlight then to team up with the most popular super group the EDM scene has ever witnessed. It was said that the group was ecstatic when the duo approached them backstage, Axwell was quoted in saying, “as a group we have always idealized Daft Punk and how they go about making music, this is a great honor for us and there is no way we could turn this down.”

It has been rumored that the 5 DJs will make their collaborative performance on the main stage of the Electric Daisy Carnival - Las Vegas under the pseudonym Daft House Mafia. This is going to be quite the sight to see and I feel absolutely terrible for all of the poor souls who dumped their life savings to go see SHM in Miami when they could have saved their pennies to see the biggest collaboration in music history.

Menino Requests EDMBoston to bring Martin Van Buuren’s ASOT 650 To Boston

menino armin van buuren asot 650
Last weekend, Armin Van Buuren brought his globe conquering “The Expedition” ASOT 600 tour to Madison Square Garden. In tote he had friends W&W, Markus Shulz, Ferry Corsten, and Alex M.O.R.P.H.  The trance quad reaked havoic on MSG and left NYC is a state of disarry.  With another successful ASOT show under Armin Van Buuren’s belt, word traveled quickly and the most remote of places.

One of the remote places was Mayor Menino’s desk.  Mayor Menino, a long time electronic music fan, little known to the public, couldn’t hold his tong any longer.  At a press conference he asked:

“Why didn’t Martin come to Boston?” The Mayor scanned the room at the press conference.  Ryan Smith, long time electronic music fan, Adam Liderman, founder of MassEDMC, and Dave Ralph, mastermind behind Royale bookings, all gave similar perplexed looks of confusion.  Who on earth was martin or what was the mayor talking about?

The Mayor went on:

“I want Martin Van Buuren in Boston for ASOT 650. Enough is Enough. Boston is the new place for Electronic Disco Music, EDMBoston.com make it happen for my retirement party”

Clearly it was just another Meninoism to go along with the various others.

With such a strong request coming in, we have dedicated all our resources, financial and human capital, into satisfying the mayor’s request. ASOT 650 Boston is now EDMBoston.com top priority.

The only problem is ASOT 650 isn’t until the next mayoral term. Does that mean Menino is back in the election campaign saddle?

Menino said:

“For Martin, I’d do anything including trade Hondo!”

Modestep Boston Show Cut Short By Sound Issues & Band Cursing Out Royale

modestep boston show royale
What started off as a another promising night at Royale ended in disappointment for those in attendance, as Modestep walked off stage following a profanity-laced tirade directed at Royale management regarding a disagreement about the sound system.

As the band took the stage for their Boston Show, the crowd was rearing to go, in anticipation for the heavy show Modestep is known to bring (read our Modestep Preview). A dubstep and drum and base band from the United Kingdom, Modestep brings a unique sound to the table, mixing elements of live hard rock and metal with electronic music. Following the release of their debut album, Evolution Theory, they kicked off their first ever American tour with stops at both weekends of Ultra Music Festival, as well as SXSW in Austin, TX. With their single, "Sunlight" being remixed by numerous artists recently (I personally heard it played at the majority of dubstep acts at Ultra), the band has quite a buzz surrounding their tour.

Fans who turned out to Royale Nightclub last night were, however, in for quite a disappointment. The show started off strong, as they hopped quickly between songs, mixing in some of their own tracks such as "Bite the Hand", "Praying for Silence", and "Feel Good", as well as remixes of Skrillex's "Promises", Flux Pavilion's "I Can't Stop", and Knife Party's "Fire Hive". The crowd, although relatively small, was as energetic as I have seen at Royale, and the show was just starting to get rowdy when, ...
