Yes you read that right. The club life boss and musical freedom record head spilled his guts via twitter last night. He informed a lucky fan that he would be traveling to boston august 30. It looks like ocean club labor day weekend will feature another massive lineup to close out the summer!

Kill the Noise Hits Ocean Club, Show Preview

For anyone with knowledge of the Boston electronic music scene, it is no secret that the hottest venue of the summer has, without a shred of doubt, been Quincy's Ocean Club at Marina Bay. Having played host to some of the industry's top DJs, from Armin van Buuren, to Pretty Lights, and many in between, OC has no plans of slowing down any time soon.

Up next in the parade of EDM all-stars to grace the decks at Ocean Club is American drum and bass icon, Jake Stanczak, aka Kill the Noise. It's been a busy year for KTN, having made stops at some of America's major festivals, including EDC Las Vegas and Ultra Music festival, and Electric Forest. Unlike many artists, whose acclaim is reached through the release of numerous singles and promotions, KTN has garnered much of his notoriety through internet buzz based on his numerous remixes and bootlegs of major dance tracks, many of which are available on his soundcloud. Also available on his soundcloud are his collaborations with superstars such as 12th Planet and Skrillex ("Right On Time"), as well as fan favorite, Dillon Francis ("Dill the Noise").

While many of Ocean Club's headliners have been members of the EDM mainstream, mostly major house and dubstep artists, Kill the Noise is the first major drum and base artist to bring his talents to the South Shore. Although the average Ocean Clubber may not be terribly well-versed in the art of raging to drum and base, we're sure that this will be one hell of a show, and we can't wait to see all of your beautiful faces in attendance tonight!!

Erick Morillo Cuts Boston Gig Short at Ocean Club

The summer has gotten off to a dramatic start in Boston with its intermittent weekend weather and high profile DJ frequenting the area. There have been lots of highs and lows but, no one foresaw what was going to take place on Saturday June 8^th at Quincy’s Ocean Club. Erick Morillo was booked for the evening and the fan favorite DJ was anxiously awaited for by the masses. People on twitter had even tweeted that they had driven two hours to see him perform in Massachusetts. Nevertheless, what the crowd received that evening was far from what was promoted or expected.

Things got off to a bad start. Erick took to the decks at Ocean Club in a physically disoriented state that had everyone immediately talking.  Nevertheless, all talk was brushed aside to hear the sweet Latin house vibes. However, approximately 45 minutes into the set things went south, rapidly. Morillo abruptly staggered away from the decks disoriented seeking help.  The music was stuck in a loop,  and morillo was no where in site. The crowd was left hanging only to be rescued by reliable hometown favorite Bamboora to carry on the night.

What the crowd couldn't see was Erick Morillo, being heavily assisted/carried off the stage by security to his livery.  Morillo manager followed hotly in pursuit behind the artist.

With average ticket prices/cover charges at Ocean Club ranging from $25-40, fans were rightfully disappointed to see Erick Morillo Boston Gig fail to produce a full set.

While there is no confirmation, there is strong speculation that Erick’s departure from the stage was due to the heavy influence of drugs.

His erratic behavior was not only isolated to OC Sunday saturday edition.  Just 3 nights prior to his Boston area gig, Erick Morillo was scheduled to spin at Emporium Long Island. However, the artist failed to show up for the gig.

At this time we have no word on Erick’s official condition but we wish him the best.

Armin van Buuren at Ocean Club: Show Review

The first Sunday of the summer at Ocean Club was a chilly one. Girls and guys alike traded out their tank tops for sweatshirts and huddled in the tents as they waited for the legend Armin van Buuren to take the newly redesigned DJ booth. His starting time of 11 pm came and went, delayed by some difficulties at the airport earlier in the evening. After being warmed up by Jochen Miller, old-school house DJ, and rising star Kaeno, the crowd was anxious. Armin’s set on his Intense tour was marking the end of an epic 4-day marathon at OC, starting with Knife Party, R3hab and Quintino, and Steve Aoki. Some storm troopers had been there all three days through the cold and rainy Memorial Day weekend. They were tired and wet, but unstoppable. As 11:15 hit, Armin came on stage and raised his hands in the air and the entire club erupted in cheers. An intro mix of “Intense” came on the venue's upgraded speakers.

With the brand new LED wall behind the DJ booth, Armin’s visuals were perfectly coordinated with his tracks for the night. Lyrics to songs off of Intense rose behind him as he dropped monster remixes and tons of trance tracks.  Dancers swirled on the screen as “Waiting For The Night” played and the crowd jumped and sung in unison. As soon as the first chords played of Armin's single, "This Is What It Feels Like", vocalist Trevor Guthrie appeared on stage to sing along. Lyrics flashed on the screen, we sang along with Trevor, and the W&W remix of the track hit the club hard and fast. Cue the madness. 

Armin was slaying Ocean Club as his BPM continued to rise with Orjan Nilsen’s “Violetta”, a track that could turn anybody into a 138 fan when combined with purple lasers and confetti cannons. As the night continued to get older and colder, Armin thanked the mob of dancing bodies for coming out regardless of the unpredictable weather Boston is known to bring and was reciprocated with a cheer. He dropped “Humming the Lights”, a track he produced under his alias Gaia that made the Trance Top 1000 list only a few days ago. Finally, he closed with my personal favorite mash up of Photographer and Armin's accapella, "Airport Shivers" and the original mix of "This Is What It Feels Like". To say we liked the set would be an understatement, because Armin's recognition as #1 DJ in the world is truly accurate. We loved it.

Other than the slower tracks from Intense, Armin brought a nearly all-trance set to unexpecting ears at OC. I had the pleasure of chatting with him before the show, where he told me he spins “whatever he feels like playing… [he had] no idea what he was going to play tonight.” Patrons of Ocean Club who heard electro-house the entire weekend were graced by an excellent, traditional, Armin van Buuren trance set in the midst of cold temperatures and drizzly air combined with some champagne showers.  Boston always welcomes Armin with open arms, and we look forward to having him back again soon. Until then, you should pick up Intense and learn all of the words, because I promise you'll be hearing those tracks in the festival circuit this summer.

Hardwell Boston Show Elevates Ocean Club to Next Level

“How AMAZING was tonight?!” my friend Leah giggled as we sat outside watching the sun come up. The meteor shower had just ended and it really was the icing on the cake to a perfect night. It was Leah’s first time ever going to Ocean Club and she hadn’t stopped talking about the show since it ended at 1. Now don’t make assumptions here, Leah’s been to plenty of EDM shows and she knows a good show versus a bad one. But I haven’t heard her rave about a show like this since Rusko at the Mullin’s Center in Amherst back in February.

Going to Ocean Club with a first timer was interesting. I’ve been going almost every Sunday since May while I still enjoy myself the Miami themed clubs’ sparkle may have died down just a bit. I don’t be come awe struck when I walk in and see the palm trees in a Boston club or the cocktail waitresses and bartenders in bikinis. It seems normal to me now, its what I expect.

Steve Angello Boston Show Review

Ocean Club has gotten off to an extremely impressive start in summer 2012.  The venue has played host to Skrillex and Nicky Romero in its Opening weekend and has also seen the likes of Steve Aoki, Thomas Gold, A-track, and Fedde Le Grand stroll through its doors.  OC Sundays as they are calling it has quickly dominated Sunday nights in the Boston area.  The question is, what's all the "noise" all about?  Read on for our Steve Angello Boston Show Review.

While most venues in the Boston and the Metro Boston area have pulled back on bookings due to the decreased population Boston is known for in the summer, Ocean club has done the exact opposite.  They have loaded up their Sunday night and made it the Venue to be at.  As a result, the venue attracts some of the sexiest of club goers, in addition to the EDM faithful.

With that said, we’ve decided to look at the bigger picture and take note of what we think are the top 25 clubs in the U.S. From Miami to Los Angeles, New York to Las Vegas, we’ve selected 25 nightclubs that we think are the top hotspots deserving of your attention should you be in their vicinity. If you’re a big clubber like we are, you’re definitely going to want to take some notes.

Members of EDMBoston have been to a lot of clubs, but not all the high roller ones on this list.  Mansion is a really cool club in miami because house culture thrives there.  Every weekend they are constantly bringing in the biggest talent in the industry.  It makes for something special.

In Boston, the closest we get to having talent come in frequently is Royale or Ocean Club.  Neither of which are on the list this year.  Royale has formerly held the spot on the list and surprised it didn't this year.  I think Royale's problem is the venue is so large they have trouble filling it out on a consistent basis.  However the lay out of the club has to be one of the best.
