Afrojack On Entrepreneurship in Electronic Dance Music

Listen to how Afrojack approaches production of mainstream hits and the thought that actually goes into it.  Afrojack makes it so sound so formulaic that you wouldn't event guess thats how mainstream music is made #Sarcasm

Afrojack doesn't really get to deep into entrepreneurship but rather into the state of EDM and the business behind pop.  It's a cool interview that shows Afrojack in a different light.

Afrojack says EDM is "where rock music was 50 years ago"

Years - Alesso ft. Matthew Koma

By Mike of Butlertron

Fresh off a huge success on Zedd - Spectrum, Matthew Koma returns on a new progressive house collaboration with Alesso titled Years. It starts with a delicate piano riff that sketches out a bittersweet chord progression, building until the anthem drops. When the vocals fade in from a wash of reverb at the breakdown, it's obvious we'll be hearing this hook quite often in the next few months. Koma's voice is crystal clear as he belts out the catchy and accessible lyrics.

If you can't get enough Koma, he's also featured on the vocal mix of Sparks by Fedde Le Grand & Nicky Romero.

Identity Festival Review 2012 - Part 2 Mansfield

Deidre:

Madeon was next up on the mainstage.  The youngster has been known to play a very mainstream setlist, but with professionalism and the ability to weave in and out of subgenres.  When he took the stage, he did just that. He jumped around from playing his hit “Pop Culture” to Skrillex’s “Breakn A Sweat” and almost everything in between. My favorite moment was when he dropped Knife Party’s “Sleaze” complete with strobe lights and smoke. The end of his set was filled with grand visuals and intense light shows, which complimented the dawn sky, a first of the day. The 16 year old French prodigy left the stage with the crowd screaming for more.

And more is just what the crowd at the iHome stage got. Wolfgang was up next and he tore it apart. Between his huge bass drops and build-ups I could hardly keep my composure. The volume of the music had increased drastically between Madeon and Wolfgang (and to my surprise would get EVEN louder for Prydz). At this point, the other stages had closed and the pavilion on the main stage filled in.  The obvious crowd favorites in Wolfgang’s set included “Illmerica” and “Redline”.

I personally enjoyed...

Deadmau5 is Taking A Break...Details

Deadmau5 was back on the horn this weekend via his controversial tumblr account.  In the post he said he was going to step back for a "wee bit" and get somethings done that he needs to do.  As a result, deadmau5 is taking a break

You can read below the quoted passage from his blog:

"So heres whats happening. im going to unplug for a wee bit. which doesnt mean im cancelling any upcoming shows or anything, im just gunna slam on the breaks for a bit and force myself to endure some quiet time. in that time, obviously the gears will still be moving, ill still be writing, and the releases will still come out (heads up for something crazy real soon like) and yeah.
i got a lot of work to do on some stuff. so, best i just chill the fuck out a bit and just get it done, and get it done RIGHT, until im 100% satisfied with it. Then our regularily scheduled program shall continue. but yeah, im basicly pretty miserable right now and need to pull the fuck back and figure out whatever the fuck it is i do."
