ShowTek to Hit Prime Boston on March 17

By Mike M:

Joining some of the biggest names in the electronic dance scene who have played at Prime Nightclub (Nervo, Kill the Noise, and Eric Prydz to name a few) in the last few months, the Dutch sibling duo ShowTek will be hitting the decks at Prime on Sunday, March 17th, 2013.

Brothers Weuter and Sjoerd Janssen, the masterminds behind ShowTek, are by no means new to the scene, but their recent surge in chart topping success with their collaboration with Tiesto "Hell Yeah" and tracks like their song with Justin Prime- "Cannonball"- has them looking fresh and ready to go. The duo has long been a mainstay in clubs and venues across Europe, but their wildly popular new podcast has them gaining momentum in the United States as well.

SHOWTEK & FLOSSTRADAMUS FIGHT ON TWITTER

What's a day without a little twitter tiff?  In the latest go around Showtek has butted heads with the Flosstradamus crew on October 5th.  The debate was over the long argued issue of sampling.

Much like Vanilla Ice sampled David Bowie, Flosstradamus clearly sampled Showtek's hardstyle original "The color of harder style".  But what of it?  Sampling in dance music happens all the time and even the most famous dance group, Daft Punk, made their fame from sampling.

Do you think it's as big of a deal as Showtek made it out to be? Tell us on facebook or twitter

Showtek Crazy Collaborations Reign Supreme

There must be something in the water over in the Netherlands.  Showtek, like many other Dutch phenoms including Tiesto, Marcel Woods and Hardwell are all rising to the top of the EDM charts and it sure isn’t lonely up there.  Showtek consists of two brothers; Sjoerd and Wouter Janssen and they started producing music in 2001.  Since, Showtek has been on the leading edge of producing hard, edgy dance tracks and their new project entitled Crazy Collabs definitely lives up to its name. Crazy Collabs presents a series of collaborations by Showtek and various producers from all different types of genres going beyond putting music under a specific label or category. Their first Crazy Collab with Tiësto “Hell Yeah!” rose to the top of the Beatport Top 10 charts and has been heard in DJ sets around the world since.

Showtek’s second Crazy Collaboration with Hardwell has also dominated the charts since its release.  Entitled “How We Do,” the track is filled with Hardwell’s heartfealt synths and Showtek’s raw chords throughout which make for one ultimate dance anthem. Showtek has a bunch of other collaborations lined up including Bassjackers, Noisecontrollers and have been in talks with OWSLA, Skrillex’s label.  Crazy Collabs is all about expanding the boundaries and going outside the box.  From these collaborations one can see Showtek’s passion and hopefully more producers follow suit.

Hardwell & Showtek - How We Do (Official Music Video)

Hardwell & Showtek's single "How we Do" official music video has been released!

Hardwell's infectious synth work pairs up beautifully with Showtek's intense low end chord play.  The Dutch team comes together to deliver another sweet progressive hit!

The music video for this was shot at EDC Las Vegas and shows Hardwell and Showtek traveling to their shows in a private helicopter and then performing to a crowd of over 50,000 people. The music video is shot in mostly black and white, but shows blasts of colors timed with drops and neon lyrics when the vocals scream "How We Do.

Tiësto & Showtek - Hell Yeah!

Tiesto & Showtek – Hell Yeah!

Sometimes we have so much new music coming at us that even the most noticeable new tracks get missed. Never fear, EDMBoston will always keep you up to date as we make the best and worst discoveries.

'Hell Yeah" is new track out of Tiesto's camp. He collaborated with Showtek to make this new monster. If you remember the Showtek brothers, Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen, were the co-production minds behind Tiesto’s ‘Maximal Crazy‘. They are clearly very talented.

"Hell yea" was featured in the last part of Tiestos UMF set, after "Maximal Crazy'. This is supposedly the final version and is expected to be released after Tiesto's forthcoming album Club Life Miami Volume 2, scheduled on April 24.
