On May 6th, the bass-driven duo Knife Party will release its third EP, Haunted House, on Earstorm Records. It will be available for download through iTunes and, according to the guys, will also be available to purchase using Bitcoins.

We can tell you that one standout track from the Album is going to be LRAD. It's an addictive floor killer that will be making the rounds this upcoming festival season. But you don't have to wait for a festival to hear this! Knife Party will be at Ocean Club on the Thursday of Memorial Day weekend.

Knife Party to Preview New Album at Ultra Gig

(Miami New Times) Seizure music, death electro, and derpstep. 

Those are the extreme EDM genres Knife Party's Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen use to describe their music, which reveals a couple of things about these Australian dudes: (1) they don't take themselves too seriously and (2) they dig dangerous fun. 

After bumrushing the scene in late 2011, this duo seized the dubstep world by the throat with a pair of EPs entitled 100% No Modern Talking and Rage Valley. Initially, no one knew the true makeup of Knife Party's membership. It was soon revealed, though, that Swire and McGrillen, two members of popular drum 'n' bass group Pendulum, were behind the buzz. 



Only two years deep into this particular project, the Knife Party dudes have already collaborated with EDM megastars like Swedish House Mafia on club killer "Antidote" -- not to mention unreleased tracks with Skrillex, Steve Aoki, and Kill the Noise. And so, rabid fans are eagerly awaiting an untitled third EP. But in the meantime, they're flocking to go get slashed at Ultra Music Festival 2013. 

During the fest, you'll actually have two chances to become more than "Internet Friends" with the men of Knife Party. On Saturday evening during weekend one, Swire and McGrillen will beat up the subs on Ultra's main stage. But even if you've only got a ticket for the second weekend, it's no sweat. Just join the dub-drunk mob at the Ultra Worldwide stage on Sunday, March 24, and watch as they "Destroy Them with Lazers." 



Now if Knife Party's official Twitter[see below] is to be believed, that untitled third EP has already been mastered and it's almost ready to hit shelves. So maybe Swire and McGrillen are planning to draw first blood on those tracks for UMF fans. 



But whatever the plan, Miami's guaranteed some seriously dangerous fun.

Knife Party Centipede Music Video

Yesterday knife Party premiered their video for the song Centipede off of their Rage Valley EP. The video is much like the song... creepy, disturbing and still down right amazing. The video is based around an exterminator who kills centipedes. The creepy bugs eventually take the life of his lover after an intense battle scene between the centipedes and an ax. The end of the video involves the exterminator taking his own life but not before his mind (and body!) becomes engulfed in centipedes. All and all this is exactly the kind of video I imagined to go the song. What do you think?

Pendulum Breaks Up...Pursues Knife Party

(stony roads) "This morning on Triple J lead member Rob Swire of drum and bass band Pendulum revealed they will no longer be producing or playing live shows under the moniker and will instead be focusing on the new project Knife Party.

“I guess we’d been doing Pendulum for ten years and that’s a pretty long time to be doing anything I guess. We were still playing tracks like ‘Blood Sugar’ that we made when we were 18 or 19. To still be doing that 10 years later, it just felt like time to do something else.

I don’t know if we’ve outgrown it because it just evolved into something else in the end. But it was time for something new and the music scene itself had changed. Rock bands are having a pretty hard time at the moment and we weren’t a rock band but with Pendulum we had the band format. We just decided that in 2012 it was time to put that down for a bit.”

Speaking rather candidly Swire renounced the original format of the band and referenced it as ‘junior school’ in comparison to the success of the new electro-step sound.

“The Knife Party thing is going so well we don’t really feel like going back to junior school anytime soon. We’re having too much fun with this project. It’s also great because Pendulum towards the end sort of felt like we were doing it because we had to and that’s never a fun way to do music. Whereas Knife Party is pretty much solely us doing what we want to and if no one likes it we don’t care.”

One half of us is sad to see a project like Pendulum bite the dust but another is satisfied that they’re willing to completely cut the ties and not pursue the act just-because."

Knife party has been making a lot of noise in the EDM scene.  The duo consists of Gareth McGrillen and Rob Swine.  Prior to Knife party, the duo are members of Pendulum. They entered the EDM scene earlier this year and have let their presence be heard.  Literally.  Swine is the vocalist on Deadmau5's Ghost n Stuff.
