Treasure Fingers - Live @ Amsterdam Open Air festival [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Everyone loves a freebie!

Treasure Finger dropped this note on sound cloud with the posting

"Live recording from my set @ Amsterdam Open Air festival (May 27 2012).
I forgot to hit record & missed the first couple songs, but here's the last 55 minutes.

**note: almost an entire bottle of Hennessy XO was consumed during this set, so there are probably some imperfections throughout, & more so towards the end ;)"

PUSHING BUTTONS OR PUSHING BOUNDARIES? Bassnectar Explains

Bassnectar at EDC - Vava Voom Tour 2012Lorin reopens the Fan Bass vault and answers a classic question about performing and DJing that has been the subject of much recent internet hype waffle:

QUESTION: Hey Lorin – I’ve always wondered, and I think I speak for a lot of people when I ask this, but what exactly do you do on stage when you’re performing live? A lot of people argue that electronic music is nothing more than a DJ pushing buttons and that it takes “no skill.” I always tell them it is much more than that – obviously it takes skill to produce everything that you have, and I feel like your shows do in fact involve much more than just pressing play and pretending to mess with knobs, but could you please elaborate on how you actually do perform? I think that a lot of people are also curious. Keep spreading the word brotha!!! – kidonwheels

This is a long answer. And yet I feel I am leaving a lot out. It is a complex issue, and I considered posting a 1,438 part tweet but this seemed like a better approach, so here are my thoughts on it:

Personally, i have a really technical style of DJing, and a very aggressive/interactive approach to playing a set: i like to get my hands dirty, take risks, and steer people on a powerful journey. I am constantly pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, expanding the boundaries of how to make people

Afrojack Breaks Silence on Paris Hilton DJing

Most of you have seen or read about Paris Hilton's newest ambition being a DJ.  Over the weekend DJ Paris Hilton's Debut  as a DJ at the Pop Musical Festival in Brazil.  It didn't go so hot.  Okay it was a complete fail that saw her make almost every amateur dj mistake all within one set.

Surrounding the fiasco is her ex-boyfriend Afrojack.  Reason being was Nick (aka Afrojack) produced her original tracks and even had her touring with him.  Making it evident he was mentoring her closely. As a result he has come under fire from his fans and edm fans in general.  They proclaimed him a trader and a sell out.  It certainly was an interesting move for afrojack to combine business with pleasure, but it happened.

Afrojack has broken his silence surrounding the issue and released the statement to Dancing Astronaut.
