The mau5 is back and not with love stories or details of his wedding. In fact Deadmau5 has returned with what made him noticed, his music. Last week his soundcloud received an injection of life with two new projects he's been working on.

Deadmau5 new music stay true to his modular production roots, so long time fans should be pleased. In “Moog bass + Modular” Joel blesses us with a soft and ambient melody while the second sample “Assume Control” takes a harder bleepy line much a tuned to Afrojack's signature sound.

Kat Von D Buys Deadmau5 Porsche for B-day

(Huffington Post) Kat Von D: best gift-giver ever?

The tattoo artist/reality TV star tweeted a photo on Monday of fiance Deadmau5 (real name: Joel Zimmerman) sitting in a brand-new car, with the caption, "I can't think of anyone who deserves this more than Joel! #happybirthday #imsoscared."

According to Us Weekly, the car is a Porsche 911 Carrera S worth $100,000. Deadmau5 seemed pleased with the gift -- Von D later tweeted, "Seriously never seen @deadmau5 so stoked! #ifyouaintfirstyourlast" and a photo of Deadmau5 in the driver's seat, while Deadmau5 tweeted, "I don't think I can even take this thing off 'sport mode plus' holy f***."

Von D began dating the electronic music artist in September 2012, and since then the two have chronicled their entire relationship on Twitter. They briefly split and subsequently reconciled in November, and got engaged in December.

Joel Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5 can't seem to keep himself off the grid for any longer then a day it appears.  Some could argue that he is also one of the most connected musicians with his fan base in any genre.  He hosts countless live streams and is more then interactive when it comes to facebook, twitter, and soundcloud.

In the Mau5' latest escapades  the airport plays host to his latest fun.  In the youtube video below, you can see Deadmau5 x-raying himself through the conveyor belt TSA machine.  My question is, how did TSA not freak out at Deadmau5?  A media Mogul such as myself gets dirty looks if i sneeze in line never mind climb on to the X-ray machines belt and try to scan my whole body.  It's Deadmau5 world and we're all living in it.

Deadmau5 on Highest-Paid DJs List, Mouse Head's Branding Power ~Billboard

(Billboard.biz) Deadmau5 sat down for a keynote Q&A at Billboard's FutureSound Conference an discussed the health of the EDM genre, the changes he's seen in dance music appreciationn, and the big business behind the craze.

Talking about the health and vitality of the genre, Deadmau5 -- the alias of Joel Zimmerman -- twisted the acronym EDM to "event-driven marketing," and compared the craze to the disco of the 1970s. "[Disco] had some hangtime -- 10, 15, 17 years tops," he told Billboard Editorial Director Bill Werde. "Not too many people are forward-thinking about electronic music."

He also brought up and slammed a Forbes report from August on " The World's Highest-Paid DJs" in which he was listed at No. 6 with a reported $11.5 million in annual earnings, a figure that he argued was inaccurate.

"After I saw the article, I called my manager and said, 'Yo, what the f---? I'm $9 million short, dude. We gotta talk,'" Zimmerman joked. "Nobody is making that kind of money."

When it came to his own brand -- Zimmerman will always be associated with his famous oversized mouse head -- he said he had noticed a trend toward branding gimmicks in recent years. "I'm not gonna condemn them for doing that, because "oh, I was the first guy to put something on my head,'" he said. "I can't have any hatred for anyone doing that, but I can understand how hard it must be to have a unifying brand identity with your art."

Deadmau5 - "Arcadia"

Over the past year, Deadmau5 has been in a transition period of trying to find new sounds that pair with his classics, while still staying true to what he enjoys. Most recently, that has been by taking a more trance vibe. In "Arcadia", the overall sound definitely has huge Deadmau5 elements, while still trying out some new sounds. With an Armin Van Buuren collaboration on the way, trance may be boiling up and out of the underground in the near future.

Deadmau5 proved he is back together with his girlfriend Kat Von D by sharing pictures of the couple's "date night" on Monday.

 The celebrity tattoo artist appeared to have dumped her partner earlier this month after posting a series of scathing messages on Twitter.com, ending her rant with "Clarification: Deadmau5 and I are no longer together." However, the stars appear to be giving their romance another try.

 Deadmau5 took to Twitter.com on Monday to share a picture of the couple's night out, posting an image of a car dashboard with the caption, "Random spontaneous adventure date night with Kat Von D". He went on to praise his girlfriend's artistic talents by sharing an image of a drawing she had inked on a tablecloth, adding, "Man, my talented a** girlfriend is f**kin talented."

Moments ago Deadmau5 posted a heart crushing message on his facebook.  As you can read below, things appear to be off between the recent couple of Deadmau5 and Kat Von D.  It's rather sad as Deadmau5, aka Joel Zimmerman, was going through quite a rough patch in his life and it seemed that Kat Von D put him in great spirits.  Oh well such is life in the dating world.

Deadmau5 New live show concept Hyped By Artist

(Inthemix) Last Friday, an audience of no more than 200 lucky Deadmau5 fans witnessed their hero in a special intimate performance in Los Angeles. The showcase, at Sonos Studio, was sponsored by local internet radio station KCRW and recorded for a broadcast on 1 November. Before Joel Zimmerman stepped up to his ‘mini-cube’ for a 90-minute set, he sat down with KCRW host Jason Bentley, and U.S. site Magnetic Mag recorded the chat.

During the interview, Zimmerman touched on the news many mau5 enthusiasts have been waiting on: the next incarnation of his stage show. As a guy who spares no expense on spectacle, there are high hopes for whatever comes after The Cube. Deadmau5 to Build live Show at the Veld Music Festival in Zimmerman’s hometown of Toronto was supposed to be grand debut of the new show, but rain prevented it from working at full capacity. In the time since, though, the Deadmau5 team has been working on something even bigger. “How do you keep bringing it up a notch?” Bentley asked.

“Oh man, I wish you asked me this question a year from now, ‘cause damn, oh man,” Zimmerman replied. “I’ve got some things in store that are insane. We were going to do the last Cube show at Creamfields, and I brought like a $5K camera and I was like, “I’m going to film this in iMax quality and it’s going to be amazing. Then the whole festival got cancelled.

“At this festival in Canada called The Veld, everyone thought it was going to be the new stage. But we couldn’t do the production we really wanted. It’s so hard not to drop what [the new stage concept] is. It is so bloody amazing, and I can’t believe no one has thought of it.”

Top 5 Halloween Costumes : EDM Themed Men

It's almost Halloween, and to go hand-in-hand with our recent article about costumes, here are some for the guys to make a joke about some of the biggest stereotypes in the scene today.

5. The Bro

Looks like some fresh party is coming up brah! Roll up with your crew decked out in some fresh Sperry's, a neon tank (or better, a white one covered in Dayglow paint), big shades and a trucker hat and you're good to go. Make sure you fist pump that wobbly drop and don't let go of the "Avicii Fan" closest to your hips!

4. The Amateur DJ

For the DJ, a few key pieces are needed. First, a dark tight tee shirt and skinny jeans will work. Next, add a chunky necklace from something besides a gold chain. Add some big sunglasses, spike the hair. Grab a pair of earmuffs to fake as headphones. Be sure to check them in between playing the air piano, and don't forget to throw your arms out to the sides after drops.



3. The Solveig

Grab a polo and a windbreaker and zip them all the way up. Next, find a nice chunky sweatband and wrap that around your sidepart. A matching helmet could work, but the other key accessory is a tennis racket. With a "Hello, My Name Is..." sticker, all the girls are gonna want to spend the night out.



2. The Deadmau5

Honestly, this guide is pretty useful for making this costume work. Once equipped with said mousehead, a few things can really pull this together. First off, being skinny would help. Grab an ironic tee, jeans, and throw on some video-gamed themed tattoos. For bonus points, grab yourself a black & white cat, but please don't bring him out.




1. The Skrillex

All the celebs are being Skrillex, and so can you! 3 things are needed: black rimmed lensless glasses, a gauge, and long hair thrown over your half shaved head. Toss on some Beats and a black tee, and you're ready to wobwob with the finest!

Calvin Harris, Deadmau5 may leave Wynn in Las Vegas

(New York Post) "A massive shuffle is under way among some of the world’s biggest electronic DJs, Las Vegas sources say. We hear a number of big-name DJs includingCalvin Harris and Deadmau5 — who have exclusive deals with casino mogul Steve Wynn — may be leaving the Wynn Group to go to other clubs. Sources estimate Wynn doled out $25 million to snag top names, including Harris and Deadmau5 along with DJTiesto, David Guetta and Afrojack to perform at his nightclub venues this year and to lock them in for big events like New Year’s Eve. But those contracts restrict spinners from performing in other venues, and sources tell us the DJs have grown frustrated. “They are trying to get out of their contracts because they don’t want the restrictions,” said one club insider. We also hear that other venues “are trying to make plays for these artists, and they might be successful in getting them.” Sources told us execs at Angel Management Group, which is developing the 75,000-square-foot Hakkasan restaurant opening in the MGM Grand later this year, have offered big money to Harris and Deadmau5 to perform there. A rep for the Wynn told us: “We have established wonderful partnerships and lasting relationships with members of our exclusive DJ roster, and we look forward to announcing our 2013 lineup soon.” Neil Moffitt, Angel Management Group's Chief Executive Officer told us: "We're looking forward to a great opening of Hakkasan Las Vegas in the spring of 2013 and expect to have some of the biggest names in the DJ business to help us celebrate the launch.""

Deadmau5, Gambling "Brings Me Back Down to Earth" || Going Behind the Mask

As deadmau5, the 31-year-old Niagara Falls, Ont.-born producer headlines festivals and plays gigs in stadiums; his new album, >>album title goes here<< (which is the actual title of the album), is set to debut in the Top 10 of the Billboard charts this week. So how does it feel to stand onstage atop a custom-built gleaming cube, flanked by huge video screens, playing your songs to tens of thousands of dancing fans?

“Uh, kinda lonesome,” admits Zimmerman, over Skype from Los Angeles. “But I’ve got the crowd there with me; they’ve got my back.” He has no band members to disagree with, but if something goes wrong, it’s his responsibility. “When it does, it’s not too disastrous. … It gives it a human element — technology is not infallible. Who Taught Deadmau5 how to perform?

The producer wears a mouse-shaped helmet when performing and is known for putting on one of the most spectacular visual shows in dance music - making him one of the most highly paid DJs in the world - and he claims the idea came from the 70s glam rock band.

"The big turnaround for me was going to a Kiss concert. They're terrible. They suck so bad. I hope they don't read this. But their show is a f***ing show. They put a lot into making it entertaining. At one point, the guitarist pulls out a fricking bazooka and blows off a bit off the stage. How things have changed. I remember when [Nine Inch Nails frontman] Trent Reznor used to bring out a crappy old keyboard and smash it up, and everyone would say: 'Oh wow, that was so cool, we were at the concert where Trent snapped and smashed up his keyboard!' Bull***t. He used to do that every night. I loved the theatrics. It's about spectacle. That's what I realized."

Deadmau5 - real name Joel Zimmerman - added that he's become so used to playing in front of thousands of fans every night, high stakes gambling is the only thing that still gives him a rush: "I play a nightclub and everyone's freaking out: 'I love you, deadmau5!' I'm desensitized to it. If you wanna really get my heart rate going, gimme $100,000 credit in a casino, let me burn it down until I have $20 left and then I'm in a panic," he added.
