Boston's 2nd EDM Radio Station Nova Launches?

Greater Media was in a stunt phase in between transitioning there talk radio FM station to a Pop radio station.  96.9FM lasted only a day as an EDM station...sad face emoticon


As we flipped around the dial on the FM airwaves tonight we were greeted with familiar electronic sounds, on a station other then the newly launched First Boston EDM FM radio station on 101.7FM.  The channel was 96.9 FM. Until January 2nd 2013, the station had been reserved as a talk FM station for the Jim and Margery show.  However the lights went dark on the station, on the aforementioned date, and transitioned to a music station.  The station played hip-hop and top 40 but didn't last for long in that format.  In fact the station has switched formats to a new EDM station Nova.  The channel is owned by Greater Media Boston.

It's unclear if this will be a primary EDM station or will remain as the mainstay format on 96.9.  As of right now its a healthy blend of pop and EDM. What's interesting is Greater Media has hired Pebbles formerly of JAMN' 94.5 to run the new stations morning show.

That being said, in our time tuned into 96.9 EDM Station Nova we heard Armin, Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, and Will.I.AM to name a few.  We will keep you posted as we know more information on Nova.

EDM Show to be launched by Jersey Shore Producer

This is one of the stories that you want to pounce all over but once again we must stay reserved.  Who knows what this will bring? An e-head that rolls around event to event or a loving PLUR family that embraces everything we love about the community. We shall see, we shall see!

(Consequenceofsound) Doron Ofir is the casting director behind such wholesome programming as A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila and Jersey Shore. Now, Ofir is about to make television a bit more wubbly with the “first electronic dance music reality/competition show.”

As Mixmag points out, Ofir’s casting company recently launched a website called EDM Casting, inviting wannabe DJs to apply for the show. The application asks for links to relevant mixes along with the ever-crucial query, “BRAG! What are your best assets? Physical, material and social.”

Avicii x You - Avicii to Collaborate with Fans for Next Track

Avicii is doing something unparalled in his next studio production.  He is inviting you into his studio to help him collaborate on a new track.  The new project will be dubbed Avicii X You. All you have to do is download the chord progression he has laid out and submit your ideas on January 9!  On that day the melody will be produced for the track online in a collaborative environment.  After the melody is finished Avicii, will then dive into the production of the remainder elements of the song with his new coproducers.

From what we can tell this is a first of its kind collaboration effort with fans.  It's fun to see social media leveraged in this new way.  We are really interested to hear the results.  We're assuming the result will be more of a pop song given the range and volume of people that will have input on the track.  Who knows, maybe this track makes an unknown producer out there famous a la Chris James in The Veldt by Deadmau5.
