Swedish House Mafia is Breaking up...

According to Internet Rumors, Swedish House Mafia was broken up as early as last night, Sunday April 29.  Swedish house Mafia Break up was said to be caused by internal strife among the members.  In addition, the desire for the three individuals to pursue their own careers was another root cause of Swedish House Mafia break up.  The friendship problems rumor went en fuego on the internet when news of the Swedish House Mafia canceling their summer Privilege dates, made the rounds.

Fans from camp 'I love SHM' to the die hard SHM haters were vocal about the melee on facebook.

However, Axwell didn't wait long to break the supergroups silence about Swedish House Mafia Breaking up.

Axwell said on facebook:

As for what caused the cancelations at Privilege it is still unknown.  If EDMBoston had to guess its because Swedish House Mafia is in the process of creating their own Mega Venue.

Why AN21 & Max Vangeli Are Touring Separately & Reflection On EDM

As I'm sure most of you know, Boston has/will see/seen AN21 and Max Vangeli come to town separately over the last month.  While the duo has spent a significant time playing gigs mostly together before 2010 they both had very separate careers.  In the video below AN21 explains that Max and him want to keep their partnership fun and interesting.  Therefore, they have decided its best that they tour separately and the EDMBoston couldn't be more excited!  These two artists have formed such a strong partnership because they both bring unique skills and taste to the table.  Getting to see each act solo means you get to see the best in each artist.

Come hang out with EDMBoston tomorrow at the Max Vageli Show at Bijou!

Hardwell's Protege: Dyro & Rene Kuppens - Raid (Exclusive Preview)

Who is Dyro you ask?

He is an up and comer that has caught the eye of Hardwell, over the last year.  During that time, Hardwell's label, Revealed Records, released Dyro's duel EP featuring hit tracks, Magno and Metaphor.  Metaphor killed it as a Big Room tune and Magno was a classic house beat that held down his ability to create traditional house.  In 2012 we’ve seen Dyro releases on Smash The House (Dimtri Vegas & Like Mike’s label)  alongside artist Jacob Van Hage called EMP, and a blistering remix to Hardwell & Dannic’s - Kontiki.

For any newcomer that would have been a career year.  However, it's early in 2012 and Dyro has also seen his tracks get airplay by Afrojack during his Ultra Music Performance.  Afrojack played not one but two of his tunes: his collaboration with the duo Ansol entitled Top Of The World and the unreleased collaboration with Looper’s named Monster Talk (soon to be released on Laidback Luke’s Mixmash Records).  Not stopping there, Sebastian Ingrosso dropped a special mashup of Dyro's EMP vs  Pressure during his set Coachella 2012 set.  Dyro is an electro artist to keep an eye on this year!

Not to be forgotten, co-producing on 'Raid' is Rene Kuppens.  Rene Kuppens has had a lot of time to spend in the studio and has gathered a collection of unreleased singles. His latest project is a remix of Sharam's Que Cubano.

Raid features a massive Big Room anthem combined with fierce electro elements only heard before in dubstep.

Raid is available now on Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings.

Major Lazer Goes Deep with Amber's Rhinna like Vocals on 'Get Free'

Diplo gets Rastafarian on us with his new track 'Get Free' (ok maybe not literally, but we feel the vibe from the video).  You can file this on your 'poolside/beach playlist' cause the vibes from this are heavenly.  A nice slow beat is almost a modern version of the class slow jams put out in the mid 90s.

Amber vocals deliver as a nice sensual layer, while also being bery reminiscent of Rhinna. So much like Rhinna that we could easily see this artist taking over top 40.

Nicky Romero Essential Mix Preview including preview of Avicii "Superlove"

NIcky Romero made a little highlight reel ahead of his performance today on BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix where he will make his first debut on the program. Included is a new teaser to Avicii;s tune 'Superlove'.

Massive Tracks: Russ Chimes – Back 2 You

Start this off at the 1:00 minute mark or for the purists listen to the buildup for an addictive funky track

Will.I.Am ft. JLO & Mick Jagger - T.H.E (Sidney Samson remix) [FREE DOWNLOAD]

David Guetta ft. Chris Brown - I Can Only Imagine (R3hab Remix)

R3hab is known for his gritty chainsawing sound and applies it to songs in a multitude of variations.  This time R3hab gives a chainsawing go at David Guetta and Chris Brown's tune "I can only Imagine".  While not as gritty as R3hab's counterpart remixes, he does establish a noticable amplification of electro on his remix.   In addition he also rids the track of Lil wayne's verse in favor of a drop.  Furthermore, r3hab alters "I can only imagines" signature studder beat at 29 second mark in the original.

I can see this fitting well into R3hab's sets and offering a nice top40 touch, that gets everyone in the crowd moving.

South West 4: John Dahlback - SW4 Mix

John Dahlback lays down a nice Nu Disco/House set ahead of his SW4 performance in London.  The SW4 mix starts with a funky disco line and John Dahlback steers it into a classic house beat.  As John Dahlback progresses through his SW4 mix he stays dynamic and changes up the beat with an electro line drop at the 33 minute mark and also at the 42 mark with Nari and Milani's 'up'.

This John Dahlback SW4 mix is a great set to listen to if your looking for a breather from Big Room tunes.

1. Pitchben - Stand Up (Tiger & Woods Remix) (Vitalic Noise)
2. Stereo Express - Shadoorack (Atmosphere Records)
3. Cevin Fisher & Seamus Haji - I Love Miami (Manuel De La Mare & Alex Kenji Remix) (Strictly Rhythm)
4. Mark Knight - Alright (Toolroom)
5. Alex Kenji - Blue Strobe Light (Toolroom)
6. DJ Sneak & Riva Starr - Manduka (Riva Starr Cut) (Snatch)
7. Albin Myers - Bumbaclot (Mutant Records)
8. JDG & JayyFresh - Make Some Noise (Club Cartel Records)
9. Elite Force - Be Strong (Lektroluv)
10. Federico Scavo - Moscow (Hotfingers Records)
11. Daddy's Groove & Little Nancy - It's Not Right, But It's Okay (Strictly Rhythm)
12. Nari & Milani - Up (Cr2 Records)

Steve Aoki 'Blown Away' By Datsik's Debut, Vitamin D

Get More: Music News

(mtv.com)  To say bass music is popular in America is to state the obvious: DJs like Zeds Dead, Flux Pavilion, 12th Planet, Skrillex and Bassnectar are playing sold-out shows in the U.S., and some (like Knife Party on "Antidote") are collaborating with names as big as Swedish House Mafia. One rising star in particular even co-headlined with EDM icon and 2012 Woodie Award nominee Steve Aoki on the widely successful Deadmeat 2012 Tour. He's Canadian, his name is Troy Beetles, and he commands a bass movement of his own around the world — performing and producing as Datsik.

When MTV News caught up with Aoki recently, he revealed that he and Datsik bonded at the Identity Festival last summer. "I knew about his music, and I knew about what he was writing, but when I saw it live, it connected the dots for me," Aoki remembered. "And then he turned in his new album for Dim Mak. I just was completely blown away. This is one of the best dubstep producers I've ever heard."

Their subsequent Deadmeat Tour, which ended earlier this year, served as a vehicle for Datsik to test out some of his new album's material and further cement the pair's budding friendship.

"It was insane," Aoki said. "I miss this guy. When I don't see Datsik, I get these withdrawals. I'm like, 'Ugh! I need Datsik around! What the f---! Where are you, dude?' "

Datsik shared the love: "I had so much fun with you, bro. I did not know what to expect out of this whole thing, and it was just crazy."

Aoki continued, "I'm just dancing to his music, every single set, for 55 shows. It just never got boring because his sh-- is f---ing fire! F---ing fire!"

Fiery is certainly a fitting description for Vitamin D, Datsik's debut album on Dim Mak. It's a sonically versatile bass hip-hop bonanza and more. A fan of Snoop, Dr. Dre and the Wu-Tang Clan, Datsik fills his album with exquisite, gut-wrenching gems like "Fully Blown" (with Canadian rapper Snak the Ripper), "Bonafide Hustler" and "Napalm" (with producer Downlink and rapper Messinian). "Don't Feel Right," featuring Shakedown's "At Night" vocal, is both blazing and soothing piano euphoria.

And Datsik has his own favorites: "I got a couple of tracks with my homey Downlink ('Syndrome' and 'Napalm'). I got another one with Jonathan Davis from Korn, which is also a collaboration with the Infected Mushroom (Vitamin D's first single, 'Evilution'). I did another collaboration with the hip-hop scratch legend Z-Trip (album closer 'Double Trouble'). For me, that's my favorite track off the album, just because it's so back to my roots. Working with Z-Trip was amazing!"

Fans can catch Datsik performing at the Coachella festival again this weekend, Michigan's Electric Forest Festival in June and New York's Electric Zoo Festival in August.

The List of Hot Places to Be ~ According to StuffBoston

Stuff Boston has released an article talking about all the hot spots in boston for different things.  Their biggest highlight was all the clubs playing EDM in Boston.  Among them were club rise, which was also named #43 Best Club in the US in 2012 by DJ Mag.  In addition, mete Aslan from Bijou spoke about bringing in Big Acts to smaller venue Bijou.

(StuffBoston)  Every nightspot has its list of VIPs: people whose reputations precede them and make velvet ropes part like the Red Sea. So for our first Night Shift issue, we likewise compiled a list — of very important people, places, and parties. We gave nods across the nightlife world, from DJs who keep us dancing to promoters pushing new social-media tech, from traditional nightclubs to sleek restaurants that double as social scenes, and from longstanding party series to late-night movie and comedy offerings. Here’s to nightlife’s shining stars: this round’s on us.

The Big Draws

Even for big-name DJs used to playing massive arenas, America has long been the toughest commercial market to crack. So when they tour the States, it’s usually bigger, more nightlife-friendly cities like New York, LA, Miami, and Vegas that get a visit. Boston has rarely been on the radar — until lately. Suddenly, an influx of major electronic-music artists are playing at Hub clubs, including venues where capacities are a fraction (of a fraction) of what they’re used to.

“It was like having the Grateful Dead play at your little concert venue,” chuckles Mike Swells, DJ and jack-of-all-trades at RISE, where Grammy-winning techno legend Dubfire played in April. Boston’s only (legal) after-hours nightclub, RISE has a devout following among true-blue EDM aficionados. It’s booked many revered acts, but scoring Dubfire was the club’s biggest coup yet.

Royale deserves credit for taking an early initiative in attracting huge DJ acts to Boston. Immediately after taking over the former Roxy space in 2010, Royale started pulling in some of the world’s top talent, like Paul van Dyk, Kaskade, David Guetta, and, most recently, Alesso. (Next up: Armin van Buuren on May 22 and Ferry Corsten on June 7.) Other clubs have since follow suit by nabbing big names; recent headliners include Bob Sinclar at Gypsy Bar and Nervo at Splash. The shift reflects how interest in EDM has skyrocketed over the last couple of years. Deadmau5 and Skrillex are nearly household names (to the under-40 crowd anyway), and pop stars are cranking out collaborations with DJs.

“The music has grown in popularity, so now Boston promoters have a reason to take a risk,” says Swells. And it is a financial gamble; the big guns don’t come cheap. (Picture five-figure price tags.) But clubs can charge higher ticket prices for these names, and VIP tables can go for several grand — so recouping the cost is entirely possible. But sometimes the cachet of the booking is enough reward on its own, says DJ Mete Aslan, part of the team behind Bijou. The Theater District hotspot has been bringing in major players, but none as high-profile as trance legend Tiësto, who came through at the end of March (check out our interview with him in “The Top Talent” on page 36). “He came from playing to tens of thousands of people at festivals to 350 at Bijou,” says Aslan. “And he doesn’t get paid less because he’s playing to fewer people. But to have Tiësto is a big advertisement for your club — and a big accomplishment. It’s great for the Boston music scene to have someone of that caliber.” As long as EDM continues to grow in popularity, we hope to see even more.

TLC will use technology to force "Left Eye" to tour with them again

Let the madness began.  You know what happens when you open pandora's box, shit gets weird...fast!

(avclub.com) Seeming to confirm most of the alarmist speculation in the wake of Tupac.0, '90s R&B trio TLC has announced it will reunite for a 2012 tour, solemnly honoring the 10-year anniversary of the death of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes by revealing it will turn her into a video puppet and force her to sing once more with the group she fought with and tried to leave before dying in a car crash. Unlike Tupac's Coachella performance, however— and much like all have mutually agreed in the weeks since—the word "hologram" has not been uttered, with TMZ reporting Lopes will instead make her appearance via archival footage projected on a big screen in a more old-fashioned, Natalie Cole-style form of manipulation. Indeed, dig this, there was a prophecy: Just before Lopes died, her last words were, "Death is but a door. Time is but a window. I'll be back in video form, to help my estranged bandmates collect an easy paycheck."

Mike Snow - Devil's Work (Dirty South Remix)

Dirty South's remix of Devil's work has been officially released.

The track has received a lot of attention. and when we say a lot of attention we mean Pete Tong named this an Essential New Tune back in March.

What do you guys think...Essential Tune or Not???

Pryda - Leja (Eric Prydz) off New Album Eric Prydz Presents Pryda

How bout Eric Prydz??

He just says F all that noise, I'm staying with my classics and avoiding big room.  His new album  'Eric Prydz Presents Pryda' is a 3 cd compolation of all his unreleased and classic tracks.

Check out 'Leja'.

More tunes off his new album:

Deadmau5 Live Streams Newest Track - Fn Pig

So you think "The Veldt" is deadmau5's newest track. WRONG.  FnPig is Deadmau5 newest production he is working to finish

Check out 'Fn Pig' Deadmau5 worked on last night.  Deadmau5 aka Joel Zimmerman, went live on his video stream from his house on live.deadmau5.com to show fans what he has been up to.  It was really exciting to see it come together.  He had the main beat already composed and was like you know what would be cool, "lets add an orchestra gong" and he did it.  Then he moved on to his modulars to make more sound effects, which is what the intro of the track is composed of.

To be a short as possible, the 'Fn Pig' is dirty electro that only deadmau5 can do on his equipment. 3:41=mind-blowing

Laidback Luke - 1234 feat. Chuckie & Martin Solveig (Original Mix)

How lucky are we that Laidback Luke will be circling around the new england area in the coming weeks?

Not to mention he is fresh off his release of Speak up and Trilogy.  However, Laidback Luke has also added another party track to his set called "1234".  The track which premiered at Ultra Music Festival (link shows live feed of drop) features chuckie and martin solveig's vocals.

On Mixmash's sound cloud Luke says:

"That is probably one of the most rapid releases we ever did on Mixmash Records. And of course we did it so you can enjoy this massive beat over the upcoming summer festival season!…To me 1234 is the epic-ness of the epic tracks, but I wasn't even ready for such a huge success of this tune in such a short time".

Luke explains that a little boy saying 1234 in a samplepacks he received made him think of having some fun and asking his fellows, Chuckie and Martin to do a vocal sample in a similar chant style. He went to say that the "track is not even about dancing but jumping non-stop to it!"

A-Track Mourning MySpace

(huffingtonpost.comWe're often quick to declare a social network "dead." Sure, plenty of them have come and gone in recent years, but few have had such a massive fall from grace as MySpace, which has come to be known as "DeadSpace." The unpronounceable "My____" logo rebranding did not help. Now it's rumored to be at the dawn of a complete overhaul, but this article isn't about that. It's about the hole that MySpace has left specifically in the music community.

MySpace was the first social network that I joined. I snubbed Friendster previously. I would riff about how odd it was to try to make friends online and how checking out your friends' friends encouraged leeches, moochers and social-climbing. But I caved into MySpace because it had some useful features for musicians. The first one that drew me in was simply the events listing. The year was 2006 and I was about to embark on my first extensive headlining tour. Here was a way for me to not only announce the dates but also post the flyer art and blast out updates if we decided to change venues or add more cities.
As I delved into its functionality, I found a complete set of features to serve the DIY artist. One that was surprisingly meaningful was the option of customizing your page's layout and background. The same way that producers were suddenly able to make their own music at home on affordable software, artists were more than ever in control of their image and branding. Before branding was even a buzzword, we were all recruiting our friends to help us learn basic HTML to design our MySpace pages.

Kaskade Melts Wantickets Server

Yesterday Kaskade pre-sale tickets went on sale for LA and SF on wantickets.com.  The pre-sale had been announced ahead of time and Kaskades enormous following were standing by.  Unfortunately, the people at wantickets weren't.  When the tickets went on sale turmoil ensued.  People that had tickets in their cart were unable to checkout successfully.  Thereby losing the tickets in their cart and having to restart.  As a result of the restart, fans lost out on the lower priced tickets and were forced to purchase higher priced ones.

This terrible problem seems all to familiar in this industry
