Beatport Launches Beatport Mixes

The online DJ mix distribution game is about to undergo a major overhaul.  In the following article, you will read about beatport starting a new platform for artists to distribute their mixes legally on beatport mixes.  The question is how many artists are going to switch over to this platform and how much internet policing will force them too?  RIght now we are in the golden age of the free distribution of mixes.  Almost every artist and their mother are giving out free itunes podcasts or radio shows.  They lift the financial burden off fans and allow us to enjoy the music we love without having to hike to a show every night.

we hope the free game is able to keep going but we also want to see the artists be rewarded for their production skills.

Avicii Says he hasn't sold out in interview here:

In the interview, Avicii says he hasn't sold out.  Take a listen and see what he has to say.

He definitely has stuck to producing the same sound but EDMBostons asks why??  Armin van Buuren always says "don't be a prisoner of your own style" and we can't help but think Avicii is the definitive artist thats stuck. At this point it will be very challenging from him to switch out of his pop progressive sound and have a long term career.  Ash has set him up to follow the same trajectory of the hip-hop stars of yesteryear and its pretty sad.

Avicii is a talented producer and you have to give him credit for levels no matter how sick of it (and we're sick of it) you are.  But where is he going with it all besides commercial success?

Fedde le Grand & Nicky Romero – Sparks [PREVIEW]

Fedde le Grand & Nicky Romero have teamed up on a new track!  The dutch collective release "Sparks" just after giving away a 2 track EP giveaway in january.

Spark looks like it will fit well into "Fedde le Grande & Nicky Romero" sets and we can see it being used extremely well as an intro track or mid set rhythm to slow the pace down and bring it back quickly!

Hardwell's Q&A session with fans

Hardwell Q&A is a new series he is starting to help bring fans closer to his life on tour.

In this episode Hardwell personally answers the questions that fans asked on his Facebook and Twitter regarding His Life on Tour. Some of questions fans asked are, "What's the worst thing you ever left behind on any tour? Do you ever take your friends and family with you? Do you like Airplanes?" and more. Hardwell gives his fans access into his life and career by truthfully answering questions and showing exclusive footage of his life on tour. The video takes fans on a ride through Hardwell's life traveling, backstage, and performing.

Every episode will have a specific subject that focuses on Hardwell and fans can ask anything that relates to that subject. Next episode, which will be Part 2 of Life on Tour, will be about Hardwell's productions on the road, and episode 2 will be about Hardwell's studio. Awesome Article here that Becky Radolf wrote on the state of where Skrillex being lame came from.  She talks about how the scene has changed and largely those are the people that you now see going to skrillex shows.  Since sonny has become associated with all the newbs, it has def hit his street cred.

(Womplife)  "I’ll be the first to admit it: I still like Skrillex. In fact, I don’t really know when the point came when it suddenly wasn’t cool to like Skrillex anymore. It feels like a few months ago, back when he had remixed “Levels” in a non-shitty way (probably the first to do so), he was still at the pinnacle of his awesomeness. And then suddenly…he just tanked in popularity. Admittedly, this was a gradual decline for many long-time EDM fans.
