Jacob van Hage - CBS Mix 23 || EDMBoston Friday Podcast

We are featuring Jacob van Hage as this friday evenings featured artist podcast.  Yes he's a relatively unknown but we're giving him our seal of approval!

BIO

The Start

Ever since the age of twelve, Jacob has been hooked on EDM! You can say he learned mixing the hard and “oldschool” way, his first setup was a turntable, a cd player and a cassette deck… all without pitch control. After spinning on several local parties for a few years, Jacob decided the time was right to try his luck at the then biggest club in Holland; the HMH in Rotterdam. Things are starting to take off from that moment and Jacob starts touring for HMH, which lasted for over two years.

MORE AFTER THE JUMP

"Just as every DJ does after a certain amount of time in the business, Jacob hits the studio with a close friend to try and found the true Jacob van Hage sound! What is the JvH sound? It’s a special blend of rough & raw beats mixed with a euphoric sound straight from his heart, a perfect blend for the dancefloor. While developing the JvH sound gig offers are pouring in for Jacob, like the Dancepark Festival, Star Beach Clubtour, Girls Love DJ’s and MTV’s Totally Summer. But there’s more… Jacob also becomes a resident at Time Out, currently the biggest club in Holland with a capacity of over 5.000 people!

The sound of JvH starts to get in shape more and more. Meanwhile, Jacob signs one of his first remixes at Spinnin’ Recordings; “Quadrophonia”. Straight after “Quadrophonia”, Jacob is asked to produce the theme for the Dancepark Festival, a big outdoor event in South Holland; “Dancepark Anthem”. Time flies by and all of the sudden we find ourselves in 2010. The year when Jacob releases Acid Dream & Synthomanic… Mayhem is the word you’re looking for! First big support? The one and only Tiesto!

It’s game on for Jacob and his next single, “On Stage”, gets signed to Spinnin’ Records and released on their Reset Records imprint. The track gets immediate support from, once again, Tiesto and Dash Berlin. Due to the success of this track, Jacob is asked by Dada Life to remix their latest single “Fight Club Is Closed” (also remixed by Hardwell & R3hab).

Up next is a collaboration with Jacob’s good friend D-wayne; “Eponym”. The reactions to their track are insane and Steve Aoki doesn’t think twice, he signes “Eponym” to his label Dim Mak. The support for “Eponym” is immense; Armin van Buuren drops it in front of 200.000 people on Queensday in Amsterdam, Dada Life plays the track during some of the biggest festivals and Gabriel & Dresden drop it in every set for over a month!

The JvH train is reaching higher speeds with every release, and it goes full throttle when Jacob drops “Spotfire”. This truly is something else… Dubstep meets House and Trance! The track enters the DMC Buzz Chart within a couple of hours, Sander van Doorn signs it to his label “Doorn Records” and makes it the highlight of his set at Energy 2011, and in March 2011, “Spotfire” becomes the most played track during the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, being played by Ferry Corsten, Sander van Doorn, Fedde Le Grand and many more...

In fact, dance music pioneer Ferry Corsten loves “Spotfire” so much that he asks Jacob to remix his new single “Feel It!”. Jacob adds the “Spotfire” touch to the track and once again, support comes pouring in… with Ferry himself at the top of the list.

But that’s not all, Jacob also remixes the new single from Belgium DJ Peter Luts, called “Hands Up”. The remix gets airplay from Tiesto in his infamous Club Life radioshow and even the mashup Jacob made with the track ends up in his radioshow!

The highlight of Jacob’s 2011 summer; his debut at Tomorrowland, the biggest outdoor dance event in Europe. The festival goes on for three days and only the biggest names in the scene are asked to play. Jacob was invited by Steve Aoki to join the Dim Mak stage, alongside Afrojack, Dada Life, Autoerotique, Myback & many more.

Jacob’s latest dancefloor destroyer is a remix for Marcel Woods’ classic anthem “De Bom”. When discussing with Marcel about what to remix, Jacob instantly said “let me remix De Bom”. Marcel Woods agreed, Jacob delivered a true anthem and to make sure everyone had a copy… they decided to give it away, for FREE!

So when you’re ever asked to describe the JvH sound you can say Jacob is a true allrounder in House, Dance, Tech, Dubstep, Trance and Progressive… crossing over every line! Together with his releases and outstanding mashups, Jacob creates a big vibe on the dancefloor that makes everybody dance and jump all night long!"
