AN21 REVIEW BIJOU BOSTON - PART 2

Last Tuesday was EDMBoston and Bijou’s first collaboration of Guest House Tuesday’s.  That meant the EDMBoston team was officially on hand to bring together the EDM Boston Community to party at a Concert.  It was a special night and we want to give a big shout out to everyone that came to the AN21 concert and said hello!  It was an incredible experience hearing all the people that follow the blog and love what we do.  While the blog seems fun, it takes an extraordinary amount of work. Hearing feedback is what keeps us driving to improve the website. But I digress from the festivities of the night.

The performer last Tuesday was famed Swede, AN21.  The mastermind behind the hit tracks “The Island” and “Swedish Beauty”.

From the second he walked in the green room, to the moment he played his last track AN21 was meticulous about everything he did.  His mix reflected this precision, no track was out of place in his set, much like every hair in his tight European cut.  He built energy in the room, released it, and went deep with power vocals and melodic synths like any well orchestrated edm set.  While we’d like to say AN21 was perfect that night, he had trouble with his levels the first 3 tracks of his set.  However, his tour manager worked with him to quickly get the problem under control.  From there, it was no looking back.  AN21 looped, cut, and mashed up live vocal cuts like only a professional can do.

Part 2:

Out of the gate AN21 opened with a Moguai’s remix of Fatboy Slim Push The Tempo.  It was high energy and the perfect transition track to go from opening act to Headliner.  AN21 followed up with another energy injection into the crowd with some “Kick up the epic motherf*cker” to set things off further.  It was a fast pace out of the gate and it got the dace pit going.  25 minutes into the set and AN21 hadn’t let up on the crowd until, he dropped the sultry “People of the Night”.  AN21’s “People of the night” didn’t let the crowd rest long, and people were back to jumping at the drop.

AN21’s set focused around Big Room tunes and those of his Swedish Counterparts: Swedish House Mafia, Dada Life, and his material with Max Vangeli.

One of the highlights of the night was AN21’s mix down of “The Island” into a mashup of Awooga vs The Island Vocals.  He worked the pitch fade to bring in the intro of Awooga so beautifully that it was like the two tracks were contiguous.

(This video is for demonstration purposes only. we realize the audio is subpar. However we just got a new audio recorder which we'll be using at Max vangeli)

Start at 2:39

All in all it was a great event to break up the monotony of the mid week grind.  We really look forward to building the EDM Boston community and bringing everyone together on Guest House Tuesdays to enjoy top talent Concert Series.  We can tell you right now, pay attention to the blog because Bijou has some really big artists in store for Boston.
