EDMBoston stumbled across the article below late last night in the boston globe. We wanted to let everyone know about a new event happening in the seaport. The ICA, Institute of Contemporary Art, is working alongside dance DJ's to produce a series called First Fridays. The event looks to combine art, dance music, and their spectacular seating area and view of the harbor with cocktails (pictured above).

The deal: The ICA will kick off its First Fridays series with Art Stars, a cocktail hour/art exhibit hybrid featuring out of this world drinks and installations. Inside, the event features a gallery filled with cosmic glass sculptures created by Josiah McElheny, while outside, guests can sip themed cocktails with a
view — “Our waterfront cafe will transform for a chill lounge experience,” says John Andress, First Fridays’ program coordinator. “We’re providing a relaxed environment for people to look at art and be able to understand it, and then have a drink in the cafe.” After viewing McElheny’s man-made constellations, attendees can look forward to actual stargazing with telescopes on the patio. “People can look at the stars and see what McElheny was trying to envision,” says Andress.
The DJs: Social Studies crew and DJ Knife (of Fresh Produce) will offer a diverse playlist, featuring hip-hop and dubstep.
Who goes there: “It’s wide open, anyone who’s interested and engaged in art and wants to explore,” says Andress. “Anyone over 21 can come down and enjoy it.”
The drink: Rum-based Cosmos and other exhibition-related cocktails will be on the menu.
The tip: The McElheny gallery closes at 9 p.m., but drinks and music will flow until 10. After, head over to nearby Good Life bar with your ticket to skip the venue’s line — and admission fee. Rong Music founder DJ Spun will keep the party moving.
