Green Day wants to "Kill the DJ"

Look what we have here!  Good 'ol green day has decided to make a play on four on the floor beats.  In their new dance track "kill the DJ" armstrong set out to make a dance track without turning into a dance band.  The question is why did they feel the need to set out to make a dance track?

(Huffington Post) Green Day apparently isn't taking kindly to the expansion of electronic dance music in the states. In their new video for "Kill the DJ," Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dimt and Tre Cool ride motorcycles through the desert and eventually arrive at a sloppy dance party, complete with ravers in kandi bracelets and corsets.
Eventually, someone dies, and though the death isn't explicitly shown, the amount of blood covering the dancers -- when paired with lyrics like "Shoot the f---ing DJ / someone kill the dj / voices in my head are saying / 'shoot that f---er down'" -- doesn't leave much to the imagination.
Frontman Armstrong told Rolling Stone the song was meant to be a...
dance song that didn't require the trio to turn into a dance band. It carries the four-on-the-floor rhythm familiar to a wide range of dance genres.
Armstrong was rushed to the hospital on Sept. 2. The band was forced to cancel an appearance at the I-Day Festival in Bologna, Italy. Details of his ailments were not released, though TMZ speculated that it was a throat or voice-related issue.
Watch the video above and let us know what you think. Isn't all the bloodlust a bit much?
The song is a single off ¡Uno!, the band's upcoming album (out Sept. 25). That disc will be followed by ¡Dos!, and ¡TrĂ©! on Nov. 13 and Jan. 15, respectively.
