Luciano Electric Zoo 2012 Set Builds Ibiza like Energy

By Shikhar S.

The Sunday school stage at Electric Zoo is always a big draw for me because of the chill vibe that it brings to the festival and the non-conventional artists that one gets to see at that stage that you’d be hard pressed to find playing in the US, any other time of the year. Luciano took the headlining spot at the Sunday school on day 1 of electric zoo and man he did not disappoint.

After getting a jump start from Tommy Trash’s adrenaline pumping sound, I moved over to Mat Zo who was dropping an incredibly trippy and hard hitting trance set at the Hilltop stage and slowly edged my way over to Luciano at the Sunday school.

The lower attendance on Friday combined with...
fans split between David Guetta, A-trak and Above and Beyond provided ample space for people to easily move around and relax to Luciano’s latin house beats. It would be a job to track id anything that he played because of several loops played over loops flowing along perfectly smooth. The entire stage was filled with hardcore fans of house music and the general vibe was very relaxed. People made dance circles and gave out light shows while others relaxed just outside the tent, head bobbing and sitting on the grass. The two hour set for Luciano was a brilliant idea because it gave him enough time to build and build and build on his set and rock the crowd to the point of desperation. When he made the drops the entire tent would dance as if their life depended on it.

Getting a taste of Ibiza on a Friday night in New York alone justifies the cost of being at this festival on Friday.
