Modestep Boston Show Cut Short By Sound Issues & Band Cursing Out Royale

What started off as a another promising night at Royale ended in disappointment for those in attendance, as Modestep walked off stage following a profanity-laced tirade directed at Royale management regarding a disagreement about the sound system.

As the band took the stage for their Boston Show, the crowd was rearing to go, in anticipation for the heavy show Modestep is known to bring (read our Modestep Preview). A dubstep and drum and base band from the United Kingdom, Modestep brings a unique sound to the table, mixing elements of live hard rock and metal with electronic music. Following the release of their debut album, Evolution Theory, they kicked off their first ever American tour with stops at both weekends of Ultra Music Festival, as well as SXSW in Austin, TX. With their single, "Sunlight" being remixed by numerous artists recently (I personally heard it played at the majority of dubstep acts at Ultra), the band has quite a buzz surrounding their tour.

Fans who turned out to Royale Nightclub last night were, however, in for quite a disappointment. The crowd, although relatively small, was as energetic as I have seen at Royale, and the show was just starting to get rowdy when, ...

Modestep Boston Show Preview

by Kat S.

Before heading to the Royale on Sunday for the Modestep show, make sure you check out their debut album “Evolution Theory.”

The live electronic rock band from London will be rocking the Royale this Easter Sunday with a ton of British intensity.

Unlike some EDM artists today, the guys of Modestep don’t rely heavily on samples. Because they are a four member band, they are able to explore a range of beats and vocals that are all created by them. The band has a wide array of variety in their music, and definitely have what it takes to make it big following the release of their album and a U.S. tour.

Afrojack "As Your Friend" video premiere

If TRL were still around, EDM would be on the airwaves instead of alternative rock.

Afrojack has just premiered his new music video of "As Your Friend" featuring Chris Brown. Sponsored by VEVO the video features some dark, dirty dancing.

Check it out below and sound off in the comments as to how you feel about EDM stars making music videos like the rock stars used to!
