Tickets will go on sale March 23.

The Dates of the EDC NYC Show will be May 19th and 20th.  The shows will be 18+

Stay Tuned EDMBoston is going to work hard to try and make this our first Bus trip to kick off a crazy EDM Summer.

Insomniac Events just put EDMBoston to shame.  Earlier in the week we questioned the possibility of this festival happening on short notice.  We sited artist acquisition problems, logistical problems, and if insomniac had the resources to pull of something this massive on such short notice.

Welp it looks like while EDMBoston was busy doing our thing, so were Insomniac events.  Only Insomniac Events were busy planning a mega Fucking Festival called EDC NYC in the Northeast.

We truly can’t wait for EDC NYC.  All the rides, fancy lights, mega Video Displays, fireworks, and massive lineups all make EDC Events.  However EDC NYC will be extra special because it is the culmination of the transition of the northeast moving from a hip-hop based culture to an EDM nation.  For a long time hip-hop has dominated the airwaves while dance music was nothing but a mention from that weird guy that no one listened to.  Now we are no longer the bastard child of the music industry.  EDC NYC is taking over the Meadowlands and people have no choice by to notice EDM and EDC NYC.

HOWARD STERN RIPS ON DEADMAU5, GUETTA AND MORE

Say what you will about Howard Stern, but his voice dominates the radio, SiriusXM radio that is.  Throughout his career he has always stirred the pot, whether right, wrong or indifferent.

Well Howard Stern decided to enter into the relm of EDM, when he decided to rip on deadmau5 and David Guetta.  In the 3 minutes below you can hear him Rip on Deadmau5 and David Guetta's Grammy performances.  "I would never have the balls to have a career like that. Like if I went out and played an ipod and just went out and scratched my ipod, I just think people would lynch me."

Take a second and swallow that.

Here's what we think. He's right.  These mini mix performances that Guetta is doing on TV shows such as Ellen or The Grammys make the EDM Producers/DJs and EDM community, at large, look AWFUL.  It literally looks worse then Ashley Simpson getting caught lip synching in your face at on SNL.

EDMBoston sounded off on Guetta during the Grammys.  We said, that Guetta needs to make a mini mashup performance for live events under 3 minutes.  Because it's very apparent him and Deadmau5 both stood there and didn't do anything.  In fact, we doubt they even hit play on their CDJ or Ableton controller.

Deadmau5 and David Guetta are both extremely talented producers.  They should be recognized and applauded for it.  No matter how mainstream you think their tunes are.  However, they work their best magic in long sets where they have the opportunity to grasp the audience and pull them through an EDM obstacle course of Emotion, that we all have come to love.

Pacha U18 Festival stems from EDC NYC Rumors || EDMBoston News

The EDM Northeast community is hearing a mixed bag of rumors about different festivals to take place in the NYC area, specifically at Metlife Stadium.  Yesterday night we reported that a source said insomniac events had an EDC NYC event in the works for May 19 & 20th.  Now that is in doubts.  

Which as we said last night, seemed very suspicious.  A company like Insomniac events doesn't just throw a festival over night.  They carefully craft their productions and start with announcements months out.  Failing to take the necessary time would prevent an EDC NYC event from bringing top talent to the arena.  Most artists at this late point in winter have already crafted a large part of their summer touring schedule.  You know most artists have reserved that schedule for a lot of ibiza appearances and things like tomorrowlands, edc-vegas, nocturnal, creamfields, Electric Zoo, etc.  That only leaves so much time left for them to play other festivals such as EDC NYC type of event and gigs around the world.

This morning, the rumor story quickly changed, accompanied with Flyers swirling around the internet of Pacha announcing a U18 Festival at Metlife Stadium.  The Pacha U18 Festival is rumored to be for those that are 18 and under only.  Not sure how they will pull that age discrimination off but we shall see.

Again this is all speculation but we wanted to keep the EDMBoston community on notice with whats going on out there with Pacha U18 Festival and EDC NYC rumors

There is still no official word on what madness will be taking place this summer in New York City.  But for one thing, EDMBoston will bring you the breaking news as soon as we hear it!

Tiesto & Steve Aoki – Tornado (Vocal Mix) Feat. Polina Goudieva [Dim Mak]

Steve Aoki gave us a preview of the vocal version of Tornado during his live set on SiriusXM Electric Area over the weekend.

To be honest, this is one of those tracks that is to massive for vocals.  Polina Goudieva has a beautiful voice but it just seems to struggle to keep up with Tornado's hard riffs and unparalleled momentum.  Polina is currently traveling wit hteh Deadmeat tour and performing it live which is probably where the value of vocals lies.

The track is rumored to be released in April FYI.

An event during Social Media Week in New York City ventured to guess. Held Thursday night in the East Village, "How Social Media Has Fueled the Explosive Growth of EDM in America Panel" included agents and label executives alike.

The notion being that music's discoverability is easier than ever before was at the forefront of the panel. The ease of learning and sharing your favorite songs has become instant and easy. And even if you're not listening to the same music as your real-life friends, a glance no further than your Twitter feed can make you feel like you're part of a bigger community with people of similar tastes and styles in music.

“The growth of EDM is intrinsically tied to social media,” Zev Norotsky, founder of Elektro Magazine and moderator of the panel, told the crowd of about 200. He also reminded the crowd, for anyone who had any doubt about its continued growth, that global EDM sales are projected at four times that of rock and roll music."
