Swedish House Mafia India Show Could Be Last



(Radioandmusic.comMUMBAI: Emerging as a hot destination for international music artists, India is once again opening its stage for the final culmination tour of global dance music stars Swedish House Mafia, who recently announced their dissolution.


Before parting ways, the band has expressed its desire to visit India during Diwali for the last leg of its world tour commencing this November. The band’s management is in talk with India’s dance music promoter and renowned DJ Nikhil Chinapa for participating in the renowned dance music event Submerge which is also a preferred partner of the Percept’s Sunburn Festival. Chinapa is the founder of Submerge and the festival director of Sunburn.


Speaking about the tour, Swedish House Mafia said,
“Axwell has been telling us for years to visit India. We’ve been watching from afar and he has already played and says it is one of the most vibrant scenes in the world. We’re working hard with Nikhil to make that a reality and bring our last tour to India for the first time.”


Officially set-up in 2008, Swedish House Mafia comprises of three house disc jockeys and producers, Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso. The band has delivered some hit singles like ‘One’ and ‘Miami to Ibiza’, which have topped the international charts and continue to be top favourites at clubs. The group is looking forward to offer audiences a world-class extravaganza with a stage production never witnessed by the country before.


Commenting on the association, Chinapa stated, “Having been actively involved in the industry for over 15 years, I intimately understand the pulse of dance music in India. We hope to see profitable and beneficial brand associations for dance music as a genre going forward. We are hoping to draw Swedish House Mafia fans from all across the region as this epic farewell act is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans to see them in India”


Recently on 23 June 2012, the group announced on its official website that the final leg of its 2012 tour would be its last, "Today we want to share with you, that the tour we are about to go on will be our last. We want to thank every single one of you who came with us on this journey. We came, we raved, we loved."
