Tommy Trash Boston Show Electrifies Prime

The EDM fever has infected Boston and along with it has not only come new fans but also remodeled venues.  Umbria Prime on Franklin Street, in the heart of Boston's Financial District, is one of the venues to see changes come its way.  The center bar has been removed, freeing up a lot of space, and new sound added.  In addition, a new DJ booth has been installed in the back corner to give the space a feel more suited to DJ-specific shows.

Along with the physical changes to the venue has also come a rebranding effort.  Umbria Prime has been renamed "Prime" and the venue now boasts a Sunday night lineup filled with top EDM talent.

On September 23rd the venue played host to electro house star Tommy Trash.  Tommy Trash Boston Show kicked off at midnight and the artist didn't look back.  Trash's signature curly hair bounced raucously through the air as the artist head banged and partied to his hard hitting tracks all night long.  Trash was instrumental in opening up slowly and building energy.

Trash opened the set up with...
Nicky Romero and Calvin Harris' new track "Iron" which he looped into Sounds of Stereo Remix of "Freak" by Autoerotique.  It got a nice vibe going without whiplashing the crowd, which some DJ's have been known to do.

Trash tempered the crowd for 30 minutes or so before he unleashed his dirty electro on the crowd.  The momentum shift in his set came when he played hip-hop classic "Jump Around".  The crowd lost their minds and Trash seized the energy in the room and utilized it the rest of the night.  He looped down (if you can call it that) the track into "Epic", which kept the madness flowing.

At was at this point that we discovered one minor issue with Prime.  The floor gets extremely slick which resulted in a poor girl doing an "epic" fall during the song.

However, we didn't skip a beat as Tommy Trash had us engrossed, hitting us next with "Control Movement.  This track is starting to sweep a lot of artists sets and the melody and rhythm are beyond addicting.  Look out for Gesaffelstein to be making moves in 2013, but we digress.

Trash switched gears from "Control Movement" around the 45 minute mark, and hit the crowd with Clockwork's grinding "BBBS".  Its blitzing winding gears and build ups were a combination of resting for us and extreme raging.

Throughout the night we were able to track ID a lot of songs Trashed played in his set, but he kept his artistic creativity with it and did an excellent job.  We definitely recommend you get out to see this artist at a festival of nightclub soon!

thanks nv concepts for hooking us up with access to the show
