Big Gigantic at the House of Blues Boston Review

By Kyle D:

Big Gigantic
The lights went dark at the House of Blues on Friday, February 15, as Big Gigantic finished their last song, but not a fan in the crowd turned for the exits.  The energy was exploding around the room as chants of “one more song” and “Big Gigantic” lifted from the floor, nobody was ready for the night to be over as a room full of fans begged for more.  Several minutes later, after a short lived break, Dom Lalli and Jeremy Salken of Big Gigantic stormed back onto a dark stage in an explosion of light.  Moments later, the silence was split by Dom’s beautiful saxophone as they dropped “Fantastic” on an amazing crowd.  As the song came to a close, the crowd still wanted more, and Big Gigantic was prepared to give it to them.  Dom threw on some heavy dubstep and let the House of Blues rage out one last time before calling it a night and sending a mass of satisfied fans to the streets.

Big Gigantic was able to get the energy flowing around the House on Blues Friday night right from the start.  Dom and Jeremy jumped on stage at 10:15, getting the entire crowds attention. The energy was instantly buzzing around the room with only the best vibes as a beautiful sound of sax caught everyone’s ears.  Dom took full advantage of the energized venue and went straight into the ever popular “Rise and Shine”.  The crowd erupted in a roar as Dom called out for all of the ladies to scream, sending an ear splitting scream from bass heads everywhere.

Dom let the Big Gigantic tracks ride out for a few songs before throwing down a unique “Can I Get A” by Jay Z remix that had the whole room grinning from ear to ear.  Following the Jay Z remix, Big G went on to play my favorite progression of the night.  Dom started to play “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore, but then cut the music into Big Gigantic's song “I Need a Dollar” causing an interesting and beautiful transition.  As “I Need A Dollar” played out, Dom had the entire crowd singing along before he broke in with his saxophone and continued to play “Thrift Shop” while the crowd sang.  It was a unique remix of their song and had the crowd captivated.

As the night carried on, Dom was able to incorporate numerous EDM sub-genres into his show, reaching out to all fans in the crowd.  The night was filled with melodious and beautiful Big Gigantic saxophone songs, as well as some heavy dubstep such as his remix of “Louder” by Doctor P that had the crowd dancing and sweating.  He also managed to incorporate trap music as he played “Underground” by Flosstradomus mixed with “Notorious Thugs” by Biggie. Dom also kept everybody on their toes as he dropped multiple brand new tracks for the Boston crowd to experience for the first time.

Overall, Big Gigantic showed up to the House of Blues on Friday to get the crowd rowdy and that is exactly what the did. He left the crowd longing for more, even after a fifteen minute encore.  It was an amazing show with tons of energy from the floor all the way up to the balconies. I would highly recommend taking a trip to see Big Gigantic if they’re in your town; you will not be disappointed.
