Tritonal at Prime: Show Review

By Justin:

Tritonal, an up and coming American trance and progressive house duo, made up of members Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed from Austin, Texas, came to town this past Sunday night to drop some Easter treat beats on Prime Boston. Due to it being Easter Sunday, and perhaps the relative obscurity of Tritonal to the uneducated EDM listener, the crowd ended up being rather sparse. I could tell that a few of the people who showed up spilled over from the abrupt ending of Modestep across town at Royale. Besides that, I would have to say that the other half of the crowd was made up of pure trance family members.
Watch our videos and read more after the jump:

The set started off on a pretty dull note, not much of the crowd was really into it at first, until they threw on a remix of Avicii and Nicky Romero’s ‘I Could Be The One’. From there on, the crowd was half way in and halfway out. Tritonal then dropped a heavy remix of Eric Prydz ‘Everyday‘ and finally their new track ‘Bullet That Saved Me’.  I could tell that everyone was having a good time but they definitely weren't in rage mode yet. The party really got started once Tritonal started playing more trance based tracks. They started off with W&W’s mix of Dash Berlin’s ‘Waiting’, everyone began singing along to all of the words. They then quickly transitioned to a Michael Woods mix of Ferry Corsten’s ‘Live Forever’. From there, the two DJs went back into progressive with remixes of tracks such as Hardwell’s Apollo, Arty and Mat Zo’s ‘Rebound’, and Arty’s ‘Together We Are’. To end the night off they dropped a new track that they are still working on I believe which is titled ‘Follow Me’, they then dropped a trance remix of ‘Clarity’ and finally gave an encore with their most popular track ‘Still With Me’.

Overall the night definitely got better as the show went on. Without a doubt the crowd was more interested in hearing trance-y beats rather than popular progressive house. I do have to give it to the DJ’s though, they really get into it when they are up on stage, trying their best to keep the crowd pleased. Chad is quite the showman and has some seriously erratic hand motions when behind the decks, be sure to check out the video I caught of him fist pumping the night away.
